Citra Hero is an elegant American IPA designed to showcase the Citra Hop variety.

We utilized 2-row, Pale Ale, Red Wheat and Belgian Aromatic malts to provide a deep golden color and clean malt profile for this hoppy ale. Multiple additions of Citra in the brew kettle infuse this beer with deep layers of citrus aroma and flavor and a clean, crisp yet intense bitterness.

After primary fermentation with our English Ale Yeast we dry-hopped with one pound per barrel of Citra once again to really load this ale up with a burst of fresh citrus fruit.

Weighing in at 7.5% ABV this ale is sturdy enough to hold up to the higher bitterness level but is still quite sessionable and exploding with fresh hop character!

On Tap @ Hopleaf. Pours dull copper with little head. Aroma of orange rind, gummybears, melon, pine. Flavor is dank citrus, sweet fruit & light bitter finish. Med mouthfeel, sort of lacking carbonation.

Draft. Anotehr beer that showcases that citra beers are hit or miss. HUGE on the hops but the hops smell kind of farty and taste a bit farty, but this is not always the case with citra.

Pours clear honey light amber clear with a small whitish beige head. Aroma is sweet delicious citrus from the beautiful Citra hops so smooth in the nose. Flavor is super smooth, almost no bitterness but straight balanced sweet citrus flavors with a small zesty citrus ending that goes down so smoothly.

On tap at the bar at the Hyatt in downtown Chicago. It’s very fresh with lots of citrus flavors. Clean, crisp fruit flavors. Good beer.

Pours yellow with white head and some lacing. Aroma is awesome. Ripe tropical fruit, light citrus, and slight hefe yeast spice. Taste is the same, but smoother and lighter than I thought it would be. Best HERO I’ve had so far.

Clear golden-yellow with scattered bubbles. Smell is sweet tropical fruits, a little pine, tangerine, candied fruit. Tastes sweet, fruity and clean with big orange/citrus flavor, slightly caramelly. Tasty at first, but the sweetness builds up and becomes cloying. Good effort, though.

Bottle thanks to Jason for sharing. Clear amber pour with a small foamy head that lingers nicely and leaves lacing when it finally fades. Huge, dank tropical fruit nose with oranges, and melon too. Tastes a little too sweet but the dank hops help to cover it a little. Juicy pineapple, mango, citrus, and light pine. Really good citra beer that would be awesome if it were a little less sweet.

Bomber from Savor Growl. Orange-gold pour with medium white head and sudsy bubbly retention. Aroma is big resiny, tropical fruit, pineapple, floral. Tastes are malt and lots of juicy tropical fruit. Also floral and a touch of honey. Light even bitterness. Medium palate. Very nice.
