3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz bottle. Clear golden color. Thin white head, dots of lace. Really nice fruity estery nose. Nice lemon peel, orange peel, spice (clove). Zesty, estery, kind of savory taste. Slightly bigger body, smooth lighter carbonation. Some interesting lemony tartness. Mild floral hops. I wanted to be skeptical, but I can’t help but dig it. Spiciness impedes drinkability slightly, but this is still a really nice American saison.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This poured a hazy golden color with a white head. Aroma was of yeast, light spices, and grassy hops, Flavor was a bit off and plasticy, spicey, and some herbal hop notes. Ok.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Revolution Brewpub, Chicago - 04/11/12.
Lightly hazed pale golden with a thin off white head.
Nose comprises citrus, herbs, grass, farmy, touch of funk, mint, pepper.
Taste pretty much marries nose with a little caramel/toffee.
Medium bodied with bite, soft carbonation leading to a fruity, bitter/tarte finish.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap. Poured a clear orange golden color with an average fizzy white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate hop and yeast aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. I would highly recommend this to a friend.

Hazy yellow. Nice white head. Lots of bubblegum in the aroma and flavor. the body is lively and maintains a lot of carbonation. A bit to sweet to enjoy regularly.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Another great offering from Chicago local brewer, Revolution. Aroma is malty and bready and has a bit of sourness to it. Almost like a cider but with some other fruit. Can smell the alcohol a bit. It’s a dark and cloudy, deep orangish color and has a small head that leaves very little lacing. Taste is bread, cereal and yeast with some sourness and the sweet notes are pear, maybe some apricot and wheatgrass. It’s a medium body and very smooth. Some alcohol comes through but doesn’t overpower. A very nice Saison.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
22 oz. bomber served in a FW tulip.
A: Pours a clear golden color with light amber hues. A frothy white head forms on the pour and recedes slowly to a thin cap. Thick sheets of lace are left down the glass.
S: Musty yeast, some slight peppery notes with some peach fuzz fruitiness. There are some bready malts as well.
T: Definite yeasty must up front with an odd peach sweetness to it. Tastes like some concentrated syrup that goes into a snow cone. It definitely doesn’t give off pleasant flavors as it completely wipes out the yeast and would be even more sweet if it wasn’t for the cracker malts that slightly cut it.
M: Medium bodied with a slight sticky quality to it. Medium carbonation with a drying finish.
O: The syrupy sweetness in the taste was definitely off-putting and it completely dominated the other flavor components. Not that balanced. Nice on the nose. but not taste.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz. bomber, $10 at Square One, Chicago’s near South.Poured into a tall flute, it shows off a light amber or slightly orange body with thing layer of foam atop. Has a big malty smell with warming spices that I’m picking up at arm’s length while still wrestling with the menu. Taste is big malts with the expected esters of a warm ferment, The hop bitterness just slightly curls the edge of my tongue, and a note of fruit and funk thread through as well. There’s a yeasty outline in the taste too, even before I swirl in the yeast dregs form the bottom of the bottle.
