On tap @ Rev. Pours cloudy orange with a white head. Aroma of citrus hops, pepper, and some spice. Good flavor, slight sweet - pepper and spices in the flavor. Good beer, I continue to be impressed.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tasted on draft at Revolution. Pours cloudy orange with a thick white head. SLightly nutty and sweet aroma with a hint of lemongrass. On the front of the palate there is a hint of citrus hops with a nice sweet roundness. There is also lemongrass with a yeasty finish. The carbonation is very lively with both a medium body and finish. Overall, this beer is great with food, but it is lacking a bit in the complexity department.

It’s OK. Pours a golden color with earthen, hop, yeast and grass flavors. Medium finish.

On tap at the pub. Pours a beautiful bright pale golden with a fluffy white head. Aroma is nice and softly spicy, some easy sweet grainy and lightly floral notes. The hops are there and a touch spicy but mostly on the herbal side, creating an easy soft nose. Flavor is well rounded, moderately spiced and a touch hoppy, a slight citric note. Holds a light grainy straw character throughout before and earthy herbal finish. Medium body and an active carbonation. Nice saison, very refreshing.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle dated 12/5/12. Orange gold with ring. Mild tart citrus and sweet peachy with some "in its own syrup" sweetness. Orange sweet fruitiness slightly overripe with finishing overripe orange peel rind gritty herbal bitterness and slight bitter fruity herbal cloy. Thick sticky body totally inappropriate (IMHO). Steers clear of cough syrup but the body is all wrong. Not good. Not sure I’ll finish.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The beer has a really nice golden hue with some haziness to it, well carbonated and has minimal lacing. The smell has some great floral notes, some decent spiciness with a hint or citrus/orange. The decent is really well balanced, minmial spice and mild sweetness and holds on really well. The mouthfeel afterwards mildly lingers with some mild bitterness and sweetness. Overall, this is really well balance of floral, sweetness, cirtus, spice, and tips the scales between a saison and potentially a triple.

I do love me some Spalt. An ale that is spicy from the hops and yeast rather than kitchen-cabinet nonsense. Spicy hop aroma and flavor, going quite dry with a light malty sweetness for balance. Nice stuff. Unnecessarily strong, perhaps.

A very nicely crafted Saison. The popularity of Farmhouse Ale’s are on the rise.

Sampled at the Midwest Belgian Beer Fest. Lemon, spicy, malty flavors. Very nice saison. This was my favorite beer at the Midwest Belgian Beer Fest.
