Dry, spicy French-style saison abundantly dry-hopped with Spalt hops. This is the first beer in our Repo Man soundtrack series.

On tap, poured into a sampler. The aroma is a strong honey and tropical character. Later on, a touch of "sweat" comes through along with a grassy note. The beer is a foggy orange-gold color with a thin white ring of dense head and a few light wisps on the surface. It also has a light, runny lace that leaves a clean glass. The taste is a medium high sweet and bitter balance. The viscous beer contains small-bubble, fizzy carbonation. The medium full body has flavors of honey, citrus rind, buttery pie crust, white pepper, and a touch of candy and resin. It finishes with notes of the pie crust, spice, and a crisp, light pine zest. Thereís a lingering funkiness in the dough batter and herb aftertaste along with some pepper.

[Tap] Pours a bright orange color with a light amount of haze to it. A small head of white foam on top. Aromas of perfume, floral hops and a dried grass note. Lively carbontion and nice lacing. Flavors of grains, green apple, tart citrus, acetic notes, grass and hints of black pepper. Dry and herbal finish with a pretty heavy body for a Saison. Tasting notes from 10/2014.

On tap at the brewpub.
Pours a cloudy golden-orange with poofy white head forming at the top of the tulip glass. that leaves nice lacing in its wake. Aroma is spicy, herbal, and hoppy presumably from the dry-hop process -- a little out of character for the style. Flavor is crisp, big, and similarly herbal, spicy, meadow-y, and with quite a bit of hop bitterness -- not "IPA" bitter, but a lot more so than one would expect from the style. A light dose of sweet malt floats around in there somewhere. Medium-to-solid mouthfeel with a lightly sweet but mostly herbal-hoppy aftertaste. Interesting but Iím not sure Iíd order it again; it was a little to hop-aggressive for me and IMO that element didnít mesh well with the otherwise soft and gentle flavors of a saison.

Pour is a murky tan with a large white head. Aroma is very fruity with some yeast and hops. Flavor starts out with very spicy hops and follows with a bit of lemon grass. Finish is a bit dry and thin. The beer is decent and has plenty to offer just nothing over the top.

Tap. Pours lightly hazy orange with a medium, fizzy white head, short retention and light lacing. Aroma is medium malt (straw, toast, meal), earthy hops, light fruity esters, and barnyard notes. Flavor is malty, bright fruits and hops, and earthy/barnyard. Light body, low warmth, medium carbonation and a dry finish.

Pint pour int a plastic cup at the grand opening. Pours light hazy yellow with a white head. Nose is honey and tropical fruit, with sweet agave nectar. Drier taste, with apple juice, white grape, honey and a mineral and yeast finish. Smooth and lightly slick in the mouth.

Sampled at the Midwest Belgian Beer Fest 2012 - pours clear-ish yellow with a white head. The aroma has earthy yeast, rich malt and Belgian yeast fruitiness. It has a medium / full body with a mild amount of soft carbonation. The flavor starts a bit warm with earthy mushy maltiness along with the aroma traits. The finish is earthier and shows more alcohol presence than Iíd like. Okay saison.

On tap at the brewpub. This was different than other saisons Iíve had. Didnít get much of the Belgian farmhouse funk. A bit more on the sweet side more Orange and tangerine than peppery spice. Still, not a bad one.
