3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tasted on draft at Revolution. Pours clear golden with a fluffy white head that recedes to nice lace. The nose is caramel malt and citrus hops with a hint of maple. Flavor starts off with some cereal maltiness and then moves to some good acidity and citrus hops with a nice bread flavor on the back. The body is medium with a sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a decent bitter and citrus finish. This beer has some very good acidity that keeps my mouth watering long after a drink.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: OCT 19, 2010 Sample at the brewpub. The beer is a clear golden color with a thin white head that dissipates quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Caramel malt and light hops in the nose. Light body with flavors of sweet malt, butterscotch and mildly spiced hops. The finish is grassy hops with a short mildly bitter aftertaste. Decent brew overall.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Of the two beers I had at Revolution, this one was the best. For a blonde ale this is rather hoppy and very crisp. Perfect for the hot summer day on which I imbibed. Would definitely drink again.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a nice clear golden color with a small white head and some lacing. Awesome citrus hop aroma, with honey and grainy pale malt. Smells phenomenal, way better than I expected from the description. Flavor is great for the style. A little grainy with sweet pale malt and honey as well as bright citrusy hops. Reminds me of a golden ale version of FFF Alpha King even, which is about as high a compliment as I can give a beer like this. Nice palate, fairly sweet and medium-light with a mild sweetness. Overall, wow, what a great golden ale. This is typically a boring style in my opinion, but this one was very drinkable and enjoyable.

aroma of cereal malt and fresh baked baguette. appearance is clean yellow sun. flavor is excellent balance of sizzling bitter hops with limited citrus and more delectable fresh baked bread. another chicago brewery (half acre gossamer being the other) bringing new life to this often maligned style.

On tap at brewpub. Pale clear golden with white head. Aromas of floral hops, citrus, and light pale malts. Flavors of light malts, citrus and finishes hop bitterness. Really refreshing hoppy golden ale. This was the surprise of the night as I thought this was a really solid brew. This was my wife’s favorite of the night.

Tap. Pour is almost clear straw color with small white head. Aroma is light malt and faint floral hop with a touch of yeast. Flavor is clean with nice smooth malt and floral hop. Certainly solid.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Basically a gold colored APA. Very slightly hazed yellow w/ a wee head that leaves only little patches of lace. American hops in the nose--citrus, very cascade-y but I don’t know what they used. Nice, light hoppy flavor blanced by a bit of simple malt sweetness. Mouthfeel is nice and light. I feel like heavy carbonation here works for the style but is just a bit too much to be perfect. Revolution’s best mouthfeel of the four beers I tried for sure. Finishes w/ a lingering but not stick citrus rind bitterness. Well done hoppy session ale.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft on tap at Revolution (Chicago, IL). Pours a golden transparent pour, faint haze maybe, with a light carbonation, offwhite head with small head, laces ok. Small, standard. Aromas are a nice floral hop base, lightly bitter, a touch citrusy and faintly metallic, crisp cereal grains provide a mellow sweetness. Initial is a well balanced floral and gumball like hop dominance, a touch of citrus and faint honey mix with cereal grains, grass, and light florals. This is definitely a solid golden ale, with a solid hop base with light malts, a bit bland, but has a lot of life compared to other beers in the style. Not bad, a bit doughy with some Gumballhead like elements in the hop bill.
