crisp and refreshing IPA exploding with fresh hop character, named for a somewhat forgotten yet amazing hop variety named Crystal. A unique hopping program gives this beer a massive, clean bitterness and fresh hop aroma bursting with hints of citrus and fresh fruit.

Goldenrod yellow, very minimal white head. Very sweet, citrus fruity nose. Very bitter, some small amount of sweetness. Medium body, pretty oily, quite acidic. Not terribly alcoholic. Very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber stamped APR2114, I assume that is 4-21-2014, poured into a Duvel tulip. Appearance-Pours a somewhat hazy honey gold orange with a ton of carbonation. This beer sparkles for a bit. The head is white and thin. After a minute it is disappears, leaving moderate lacing. Aroma-The beer smells fruity and somewhat sweet. It reminds me of a citrus salad dabbed in a little honey. It all seems somewhat subdued though, possibly due to the beer being a couple months old. Taste-Fruit forward hops hit right away and dominate throughout the entire beer. Grapefruit, oranges, and to a lesser extent pineapple. There is some bitterness that isn’t total resin. Grapefruit really is super prevalent and it’s quite nice. There is a bit of a sweet malt backbone, but it doesn’t get in the way, it actually blends well. Palate-The beer is juicy and quenching all the way through. Carbonation that seemed extreme at pour is now perfect. The alcohol is invisible and if this wasn’t 7.5% I could drink this all day. Overall-This beer was pretty unique, albeit a bit one note. It was almost like an amazing citrus juice, just beer. Another outstanding offering from Revolution.

Pours orange honey darker with a white head. Aroma brings sweet refreshing juicy hops with citrus notes. Flavor brings smooth orange with a subtle balance of tang and sweetness, almost like smooth candy. There is no big bite of bitterness or malts at all.

The focus here as you would expect from the name is on the fruity crystal hops. It pours a slightly cloudy orange color. It’s head is of fine bubbles and left behind little spots of lacing as it dissipated. It is lightly sweet w/ firm bitterness. Some iced tea like astringency brings out a subtle peachy note. This beer has a medium body and brisk carbonation. It finishes w/ lingering sweetness and a bit of resinous pine. This is a very nice IPA made from a great hop.

Draft at DMK IN Chicago. Pours a light rich amber with thin head and nice lacing. Nose is hoppy with grapefruit; kind of a zombie dust feel and taste...high praise. Taste is similar; lots of fruit and sweet hops. Some edge but very smooth. Excellent!

Draft at DMK. Pours a light amber color with a white head and some lacing. Aroma is hoppy, tons of citrus, grapefruit, orange. Medium on the palate with average carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty, some bread, some cereal, bitter grapefruit, a touch of pine, orange, tangerine, with a clean bitter finish. Very tasty.

On tap at Warren’s Ale House in Wheaton, IL., and dispensed to a tulip with a hazed, amber/gold color, and a decent crown of off white head foam that reduced somewhat rapidly to a ring & film, but left some stubbornly clingy, web-like lacing on the glass. The nose started with a bit of resin, then introduced expressive grapefruit, tangerine, and some tropical notes. The taste followed with medium, fruity & citrusy, lingering hop bitterness, a touch of sweetness, and creamy malt that tempered the hop, but also presented some silkiness to the mouth feel. Medium bodied, clean & tasty, with a little alcohol warmth melded in toward the finish.

UPDATED: JUN 6, 2014 22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but was a recent release. Pours slightly hazy bright orange color with a 2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of huge mango, tangerine, pineapple, peach, papaya, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light caramel, and floral/grassy earthiness. Outstanding aromas with huge complexity of citrus/tropical hops and moderate pale malt balance; with great strength. Taste of big mango, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light caramel, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of floral/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of mango, tangerine, pineapple, peach, grapefruit, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light caramel, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity of bright juicy citrus/tropical hops with moderate pale malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and fairly creamy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome IPA. All around great complexity of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate pale malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.
