crisp and refreshing IPA exploding with fresh hop character, named for a somewhat forgotten yet amazing hop variety named Crystal. A unique hopping program gives this beer a massive, clean bitterness and fresh hop aroma bursting with hints of citrus and fresh fruit.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Printer’s Row Wine Shop, 6/3/14

Aroma: It has a light nose of fruity hops, clean, crystal malts, and some pine notes
Appearance: It pours a clear, bright orange color with a thin head and minimal lace
Flavor: The flavor is lightly sweet, clean malt flavor, and a mid-plus hop bitterness as well
Palate: The body is medium, leaning light, it has a smooth, clean feel, and a mid-dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a very solid beer, but at the same time, I just wanted it to be a little better. There isn’t too much going on aroma-wise, and the appearance is only okay. Overall though, this beer is solid enough to get a score this high from me.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear golf with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has notes of resinous pine and grass with some earthy grain backing as well as a hint of onion. Flavor is more mild with lots of grass, a bit of onion and light grains backing.

On tap at Town Hall in Ohio City / Cleveland. One of the best IPA’s I’ve tried in a long time - clear orange brew with distinctive aroma of citrus and tropical fruit. Taste is mild sweetness at the start and an immense and complex hoppiness that is just excellent. I was going to try a few other brews on the menu but stuck with this.

UPDATED: MAY 15, 2014 Clear golden orange with almost no head. Smells like tangerine, a touch of marijuana. Very clean body, big grapefruit flavor with hints of orange peel. Refreshing, but not complex enough to really stand out.

Had on tap at Small Bar Logan Square. This IPA has a great fruity nose and citrus/pine sap feel to the taste. Perfect drinking for a late spring evening - a real thirst quencher that goes down a treat with a good touch of bitterness on the back end.

Bomber with Z, pours a hazy golden color with a very foamy soapy head. Nose is citrus, with a slight predominance of lemon with resin and pine notes as well. Taste is bitter and full of citrus, with a predominance of fresh lemon and more subtle pine. Finish is bitter sweet and ends on the same hppy citrus notes. Quaff Score 8 / 10

Pours a hazy golden with a white head and aroma of hops and citrus. Taste is bitter sweet, lemon zest, citrus, fresh hops, and fruits leading to a bitter, lemony, fruity finish. Delicious IPA, lots of flavor

Bottle:   Dated May 2013.   Hazy straw, small to moderate frothy white head, nice lacing.   Citrus and some fruity notes on the nose.   Almost tropical.   Somewhat sweet to start, candied citrus peel, with soft fruity/tropical notes.   Not real bright, but fairly sweet with a moderate hop background.   Body and mouthfeel are fairly full bodied.   A bit faded, not as bright as intended, but at 8 months old it still had some legs.   Thanks Kevin!

On tap at Revolution. Straw yellow with a thin white head. Aroma is dank with cat pee, vegetation, pale milt and a bit of fruit tossed in. Taste is fruity and dank with grapefruit, floral hops, pale malt with sweet fruits underneath. Aggressively bitter.
