COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A play on Josh’s name, this Russian imperial stout is aged in four different types of bourbon barrels (Old Fitzgerald, Old Forester, Elijah Craig, and Evan Williams), then blended for the resulting thick and dark brew. If you had a chance to taste Alderaan, this is the aged version.

A not remotely subtle, booze-dominated bourbon. Sweet, slight hints of chocolate though I will say it’s surprisingly light in alcohol notes for a bourbon. Wait, this is a beer? What?

Bottle from Dennis, thanks! Pours black with a small, thick brown head. Aroma is bourbon filled to the max, some raisin and a tart (woody?) note as well. Taste has bourbon, raisins, cherry liquor praline, marzipan, figs and alcohol heat. Round and full bodied, soft carbonation. The woody dry after taste is surprisingly short.

Bottle. Black with a dark tan head. A bit of coffee, cocoa, booze and bourbon in the nose. I got coffee and unsweetened coco followed with all the barrel notes. This is a solid beer with a big bourbon barrel flavor. I loved it but if bourbon isn’t your thing be careful.

(bottle - 22 oz) Dark brown pour with a thick tan head. Tons of roast and chocolate in the aroma with a ton of bourbon sweetness, coming from the mixture of all the barrels. Lots of bourbon in the flavor over top of the bitter roasted malts. Sweet vanilla finish.

Bottle, brought to me by Grippitis. Near black, viscous pour, tight brown crown. Sweet rich aroma with roasty elements (coffee, cocoa) and barrel elements (treacle, vanilla, wood). The palate is vey full bodied, fudgey and malty, bitter coffee, sweet bourbon, toasted coconut, boozy undertones. Delicious!

Bottle, shared at Jeff’s. Pours black with a small foamy head that fades to a ring. Aroma is heavy whiskey and oak, maybe some light cocoa and ash. Taste is very boozy as expected from the aroma. Whiskey, charred oak, vanilla, and just a touch of sweet chocolate. Remains pretty smooth despite the heavy whiskey booziness. Good thick mouthfeel too. Definitely a sipper. Solid BB beer but just more bourbon than I like in my beer.

Bottle: thanks, Jason! Deep brown, very close to block with a khaki colored head that’s quick to foam up; nice & frothy as it slowly settles to a thin film & ring around the glass. Aroma has some notable whiskey up front with a multigrain underbody; notes of wood, dark cocoa nibs, light roast, & a hint of delicate syrup. Alcohol presence is large on the nose... Taste is similar with a big kick up front of tannin-heavy oak that’s been soaking in bourbon & whiskey for a long time. Light cocoa, slightly charred, with mild notes of coconut (likely from the barrel aging). Brown sugar & faint maple syrup come out with warmth, leading to a wood & whiskey filled finish. Lightly astringent. Despite the boozy presence, it never gets too overbearing. Certainly a slow sipper, though. Would like a thicker, more "round" mouth feel, but it’s quite tasty.

From a trade with rxeight-thanks man! Black pour, medium viscosity for the style, pretty high carbonation. Lots of bourbon elements on the nose, vanilla, oak, some booze, along with dark malts and coffee. Taste follows...pretty standard only stout, not complex but tasty. B+ just needs some more body to push it up.
