COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A play on Joshís name, this Russian imperial stout is aged in four different types of bourbon barrels (Old Fitzgerald, Old Forester, Elijah Craig, and Evan Williams), then blended for the resulting thick and dark brew. If you had a chance to taste Alderaan, this is the aged version.

Bottle to glass. Pours a deep brown to black color with a small light brown head. Aroma is roasted malts with a decent amount of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, but not overpowering. Flavor is much of the same. Overall, a wonderful BA stout, definitely my favorite beer Iíve had from Revolution so far.

It poured a black color with a brown head. The aroma was of moderate to heavy roasted coffee, chocolate and bourbon. The taste was of chocolate malts, some bourbon with some alcohol in the backend. Very nice.

12/26/14. 22oz bottle shared with great old friends at RIBCO, more or less thanks to my dad. Black pour with a small tan head, mild lacing. Great aroma, bourbon present, plenty of oak and vanilla, but not too much, melds well with chocolate, roast, caramel, and more. Good flavor, a nice blend of bourbon, oak, vanilla, chocolate, and caramel. Tasty!

22oz bottle poured into a snifter. The aroma is that of a sweet bourbon caramel, vanilla, and wood, with some chocolate syrup. Aromas of toffee and figs come in late. It pours a pitch black topped by a fizzy, active brown head that retains a medium ring and dusty surface, and leaves a light, splotchy, but runny, lace. The taste is a medium high sweet and bitter (in stages). The carbonation is fizzy and the texture is slick, waxy, and gets a bit sticky with warmth. The full body has a boozy warmth with flavors of caramel, dark chocolate, wood grains, and a burnt note. It finishes warm, like a mellow bourbon, and waxy with an aftertaste thatís roasty and woody, with notes of dark chocolate and nuts.

22 oz bottle shared by Spencer. Thanks! The pour is a viscousy black with a dark khaki head that falls quickly leaving a small trace of head, but mostly settles as a ring. The aroma is really boozy. There is a lot of bourbon heat up front and a nice vanilla in the background. Dark licorice and fruits come through on the back end. The flavor is a bit sweeter. There is a nice licorice presence before the roasted malt comes in. There is a light dark chocolate that finishes up. I like how the bitter comes back on the finish but there isn't much vanilla or barrel. The mouth feel is thinner than I'd like. There is a good carbonation but it just doesn't keep it around long enough. The strong roast is nice, but there is a lot to be desired here. Good, but could be much better. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber purchased by drowland at RIBCO and shared with the table, thanks! Pours pitch black with no head at all, I was one of the last pours though, the aroma has quite a bit of dark chocolate mixed in with the oak and bourbon, pretty hot on the nose but not over the top, the flavor has a good amount of bourbon at first as well but mellows down as it warms, nice dark chocolate, cocoa nibs and vanilla in the finish, thick mouthfeel, good stuff.

22 ounce bottle, no date on the bottle or box that I could find. I believe itís the recent 2014 release, since it was a new arrival at a local beer store about a month ago. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like roasted malt, vanilla, bourbon, dark chocolate, oak and some coffee. Taste is pretty much like the aroma, but in addition thereís also some milk chocolate, caramel and dark fruit noticeable. All the flavors in this brew mesh well together, and none of them overpower the others. With that being said, when drinking it you know this is a bourbon barrel aged brew! Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, itís creamy and coating with low/moderate carbonation. I thought this was pretty good, I wouldnít mind picking up this one again. $16.99 a bomber.

$9 snifter at the Taproom. Smell is cherry cordial, despite the idea that it is simply BB Aged. Taste is also, well, Iím going to throw in an overused word, but itís "redolent" or what I think is cherry, but then thereís some vanilla coming in, and a bit of stickiness Finally, thereís the note of cognac and Bourbon that this strives for. Very smooth palate, the Stout part of this has mellowed considerably. I am aware that we beer raters Gove way too much weight to the heart barrel-aged stouts, but this kind of beer is worth every tick I can throw at it.
