COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A play on Josh’s name, this Russian imperial stout is aged in four different types of bourbon barrels (Old Fitzgerald, Old Forester, Elijah Craig, and Evan Williams), then blended for the resulting thick and dark brew. If you had a chance to taste Alderaan, this is the aged version.

22oz bottle, shared. Bottled 9/13/13. Very dark brown, near-black color. Slight red-hue. Good thin brown head. Some dots and bits of lace. Looks good. Really nice complex bourbon barrel nose. Vanilla, big roast, light spice, wood in the nose. Lots of good dark chocolate, fudge, brownie, cookie dough. Awesome. Light coffee, good roast malt. Good chewy bigger body, lighter carbonation. Lightly slick, but goes more dry in the finish. Heavy roast, near burnt, light hint of smoke, but I like it a lot. dudeabide commented that "it tastes like ashtray", but I wouldn’t go that far. Good moderate to bigger bitterness, minimal to no sweet, light (and pleasant) alcohol warmth. Very light hint of molasses. I loved this... Very good BA imperial stout.

Pours black with dark tan head. Aroma is lots of vanilla and oak with dark fruit and leather, very nice. Taste is same, tons of bourbon with vanilla and oak, very woody, rich leather flavor, my only issue with this awesome brew is that the body is a bit thin for a beer this big.

Sample at Fauxbab ’13. Decent bourbon stout. Nothing really stands out in this one.

Had on tap at the Kedzie tap room. Served in a 9 oz. snifter. A: Pours pitch black with a thick mocha colored head on the pour. It recedes slowly to a thick film that leaves sticky sheets of lace down the glass. S: Pretty barrel forward on the nose. Bourbon, oak and roast. Chocolate and light caramel. T: Bourbon forward with some nice barrel notes. Marshmallow, vanilla and oak. Nice roasted malts with some back end chocolate and caramel. M: A little, but smooth and sweet. A little touch of heat with a medium low carbonation level. O: Pretty solid overall. Would like to see what some age does to this guy.

Pitch black pour, khaki head. Nose is bourbon, vanilla, wood, leather, light alcohol, excellent. Great palate, chewy malts, chocolate, booze, vanilla, alcohol, sticky.
