A play on Josh’s name, this Russian imperial stout is aged in four different types of bourbon barrels (Old Fitzgerald, Old Forester, Elijah Craig, and Evan Williams), then blended for the resulting thick and dark brew. If you had a chance to taste Alderaan, this is the aged version.

Bottle sample courtesy of "Pavlov Badjewski". Colour...very dark brown with a thin tan head. Nose...massively Bourbon-like with brown sugar syrup and burnt marshmallows. Palate...a little thin, but the Bourbon makes up for it, big time! Incredibly boozy stuff with massive waves of burnt sugar, turbinado, char and ash. The finish is refined and polished, despite the heavy booze up front ( not that there’s anything wrong with that).

Bottle thanks to HighWine. Had at the Beechner Blind Beer Bash. Lots of chocolate and booze. Smooth vanilla with a subtle alcohol warming. Not hot, but there. Moderate roastiness and chocolate. This was my favorite of the 3 we had blind in this flight. Lots of barrel character but well compliments the beer.

Bottle @ Steve’s house. Thanks to Adam. Pours a dark brown / black appearance with a foamy dark brown head. Nice roasty, slight cola, dark fruity, vanilla, whiskey aroma. Caramel, toffee, boozy whiskey, herbal / grassy flavor. Kind of high on the booze but some nice flavors. Not bad.

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, thanks Aaron! Dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of cocoa, vanilla, roast, oak, hints of grain, slight dark fruit, touch of dark fruit. Taste is a mix of dark chocolate, coffee, roast, oak, vanilla, hints of grain, hints of toffee, finishing bitter, oaky, dry.

22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours black with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of bourbon and oak, roasted malts, some dark chocolate and coffee and hints of licorice/dark fruits, vanilla, some caramel sweetness, and light bitterness. Flavor the same with lots of oak and bourbon and roast. Smooth, thicker texture. A very boozy, bourbony imperial stout, but this is the way I like them.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a very thin off white head. Aroma is chocolate, espresso, vanilla and a hint of licorice. Taste is very well balanced as well as the palate. Blends from one flavor to the next. Vanilla at the start, mild espresso and a nicely balanced chocolate finish. Great beer!

22 oz bottle shared by DrSilverworm in November 2013. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small khaki colored head. The aroma and flavor have a strong barrel character on top of big roasted malt. Dark chocolate, wood, char some vanilla and tobacco, but the barrel is strong with this one. Good flavor.
