COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A play on Josh’s name, this Russian imperial stout is aged in four different types of bourbon barrels (Old Fitzgerald, Old Forester, Elijah Craig, and Evan Williams), then blended for the resulting thick and dark brew. If you had a chance to taste Alderaan, this is the aged version.

Bottle. Poured a black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly diminished with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted coffee, chocolate and wood bourbon alcohol aroma. Medium to heavy toasted chocolate malt and bourbon sweet flavor with a heavy dark sweet and alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a standout beer.

Bottle @ Steve’s house. Thanks to Adam. Pours a dark brown / black appearance with a foamy dark brown head. Nice roasty, slight cola, dark fruity, vanilla, whiskey aroma. Caramel, toffee, boozy whiskey, herbal / grassy flavor. Kind of high on the booze but some nice flavors. Not bad.

Supr boozy, alcohol subdues if you let it warm but it is booze and barrel all the way.

Bottle, brought to me by Grippitis. Near black, viscous pour, tight brown crown. Sweet rich aroma with roasty elements (coffee, cocoa) and barrel elements (treacle, vanilla, wood). The palate is vey full bodied, fudgey and malty, bitter coffee, sweet bourbon, toasted coconut, boozy undertones. Delicious!

22 oz. bottle sampled at the Side Project release bottle share. Pours a deep brown, not opaque, with a tan head. Notes of bourbon immediately emerge, along with oak, molasses, vanilla, brown sugar, earth, and tobacco. Starts sweeter, finishes quickly, and lingers boozy. Medium-bodied, with a warming mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Nice barrel treatment.

22oz bottle, shared. Bottled 9/13/13. Very dark brown, near-black color. Slight red-hue. Good thin brown head. Some dots and bits of lace. Looks good. Really nice complex bourbon barrel nose. Vanilla, big roast, light spice, wood in the nose. Lots of good dark chocolate, fudge, brownie, cookie dough. Awesome. Light coffee, good roast malt. Good chewy bigger body, lighter carbonation. Lightly slick, but goes more dry in the finish. Heavy roast, near burnt, light hint of smoke, but I like it a lot. dudeabide commented that "it tastes like ashtray", but I wouldn’t go that far. Good moderate to bigger bitterness, minimal to no sweet, light (and pleasant) alcohol warmth. Very light hint of molasses. I loved this... Very good BA imperial stout.
