COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A play on Josh’s name, this Russian imperial stout is aged in four different types of bourbon barrels (Old Fitzgerald, Old Forester, Elijah Craig, and Evan Williams), then blended for the resulting thick and dark brew. If you had a chance to taste Alderaan, this is the aged version.

Bottle sample courtesy of "Pavlov Badjewski". Colour...very dark brown with a thin tan head. Nose...massively Bourbon-like with brown sugar syrup and burnt marshmallows. Palate...a little thin, but the Bourbon makes up for it, big time! Incredibly boozy stuff with massive waves of burnt sugar, turbinado, char and ash. The finish is refined and polished, despite the heavy booze up front ( not that there’s anything wrong with that).

$9 snifter at the Taproom. Smell is cherry cordial, despite the idea that it is simply BB Aged. Taste is also, well, I’m going to throw in an overused word, but it’s "redolent" or what I think is cherry, but then there’s some vanilla coming in, and a bit of stickiness Finally, there’s the note of cognac and Bourbon that this strives for. Very smooth palate, the Stout part of this has mellowed considerably. I am aware that we beer raters Gove way too much weight to the heart barrel-aged stouts, but this kind of beer is worth every tick I can throw at it.

22 ounce bottle, no date on the bottle or box that I could find. I believe it’s the recent 2014 release, since it was a new arrival at a local beer store about a month ago. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like roasted malt, vanilla, bourbon, dark chocolate, oak and some coffee. Taste is pretty much like the aroma, but in addition there’s also some milk chocolate, caramel and dark fruit noticeable. All the flavors in this brew mesh well together, and none of them overpower the others. With that being said, when drinking it you know this is a bourbon barrel aged brew! Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it’s creamy and coating with low/moderate carbonation. I thought this was pretty good, I wouldn’t mind picking up this one again. $16.99 a bomber.

22 oz bottle shared by Spencer. Thanks! The pour is a viscousy black with a dark khaki head that falls quickly leaving a small trace of head, but mostly settles as a ring. The aroma is really boozy. There is a lot of bourbon heat up front and a nice vanilla in the background. Dark licorice and fruits come through on the back end. The flavor is a bit sweeter. There is a nice licorice presence before the roasted malt comes in. There is a light dark chocolate that finishes up. I like how the bitter comes back on the finish but there isn't much vanilla or barrel. The mouth feel is thinner than I'd like. There is a good carbonation but it just doesn't keep it around long enough. The strong roast is nice, but there is a lot to be desired here. Good, but could be much better. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber from ck1 for our family Xmas gathering, thanks bro! Pours an opaque black with a tan head leaving very little lacing. Aroma has chocolate and caramel and vanilla/bourbon with a solid roasty presence. Taste is of bittersweet chocolate, some sweet caramel maltiness, some roast/ash and some vanilla. Smooth with a terrific flavor blend. Surprisingly, the alcohol is understated. Full bodied. Finishes bittersweet with a little kick. Tasty, smooth and excellent. Very enjoyable!

Bottle. Black with a dark tan head. A bit of coffee, cocoa, booze and bourbon in the nose. I got coffee and unsweetened coco followed with all the barrel notes. This is a solid beer with a big bourbon barrel flavor. I loved it but if bourbon isn’t your thing be careful.
