A Double Pale Ale with juicy citrus hop flavor from Centennial, Cascade, Amarillo and Chinook hops. We started with the idea of doubling-down on our Iron Fist pale ale recipe, made a few tweaks and ended up with this great beer. Although the name says otherwise, we recommend one at time.

Draft to taster at Revolution. Looks good for the style; a fairly transparent brownish orange with off-white lacing. Smells solid; juicy citrus hops with a nicely balanced pale malt backbone. Tastes like it smells with a good mouthfeel. Good beer.

A cognac amber ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, classic biscuit malt with floral hops, piney, and citrus notes. In mouth, a good biscuit malt with flotal and resinous hops, grapefruit pulp, herbal notes, alcohol burn, quite nice.

Tasting at LUSH. Poured dark clear amber with min head. Great balanced citrus resin aroma. Quite smooth earthy bitter taste. Decent.

On tap. Pours a hazy dark gold-amber with a thick khaki head that leaves tons of lace. Nose involves big resin, tropical, and pine hop notes. Really sweet and really bitter, so balanced I guess, but just big flavor-wise. Thicker, hearty, with fairly active carb, oily and syrupy, with a long bitter finish. Pretty darn tasty brew.

Enjoyed at a 4th of July party at a friends place who happens to work for the brewery, and I am really happy that they do. I didn’t take notes while enjoying this, but thought this stuff was exceptionally good and easy drinking considering the high ABV. Appearance is a moderate copper, lightly cloudy with thin white head. Aroma of citrus hops. Taste goes down nice and bitter with equally balancing caramel malt. Very good stuff.

Tap at the brewpub. Clear tea amber. Poofy white foam. Big sheets of lace. Nose is tea leaf, cheese, dusty citrus. Taste has big spruce. sticky citrus, tea tannic astringency, heavy nuttiness. Just typical oversteeped grain and specialty grain on overboiled alpha hops all around. Perfect example of how not to do DIPA. Possibly not fresh, but at the brewpub?

Draft @ Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen. Pours a slightly hazy pale amber color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy bitter citrus aroma. Fruity malty hoppy bitter citrus flavor. Has a fruity malty citrus hoppy finish.

On tap @ Mikkeller Bar. It’s light blurry in the glass, deep honey red in the glass and it has a big lacing off-white head. The nose is sweet caramel and fruit sweet with both orange zest, c-vitamin and a mild grassyness. Smells nice. Scary easy to drink, the most scary double ipa I can remember when it some to light drinkability. It’s seriously like drinking a some sort of melon juice. Really gliding mouthfeel with a comfortable carbonation level. Fruity, lots of melon, not even a hint of the alcohol and it’s leaving a hoppy and grassy taste on the tongue.
