COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A striking, robust porter full of warmth and chocolate malt. Eugene is a robust porter named after Eugene V. Debs, an American union leader and activist who led the Pullman Railroad strike in 1894. An assortment of Belgian specialty malts form a complex structure of toasted grain and caramel flavors. Dark chocolate malt makes this porter black as night and infuses it with its distinct intense, chocolate essence.

UPDATED: JAN 25, 2013 1st encounter with Revolution out of the corrupt city of Chicago. Not a bad offering at all. Nice malts with a little lactose on the back end. Quite herbal and hoppy for a porter.

Can... Poured near black with a thin, light tan head. Soft mouthfeel, some toasted sugars, cocoa, coffee with a pleasant malt character. Very nice tasting porter and not too much roast which I appreciate in the style. The higher abv seemed well masked.

Half of a 12oz can.. ABV labeled 6.8%. Dark brown / black color. Good thin light brown head, leaves good decent lace. Robust chocolate and dark fruit nose. Smooth, light carbonation. Medium to bigger body. Nice and full, good sort of creaminess - porters can sometimes be too thin for me, that’s not the case, here. Little chocolate, light bit of dark fruit, good robust character. Light bitter, light sweet taste, mostly just really easy to drink, perfect for a cold rainy day in December. Really solid. I would recommend this, and will most likely get it again.

dark porter. the main thing going on is a mild ancho chili flavor. not all that strong but manages to cover up most everything this beer has to offer. The chilli is a litte more subdued than most so this may appeal to a wider audience and its easier to drink. reminds me of ska mole but quite a bit thinner decent

Pours a very dark brown with a small head.

The aroma is roasty and sort of faint. The beer has aa decent coffee aroma and is lightly sweet smelling.

The beer is lightly bitter, roasty and has a nice mild earthy hoppiness. The dark chocolate is mild but enjoyable. All flavors seem tame, but together they make up a pretty tasty beer that’s very easy to drink.

Pour out of 12 oz can, thanks Matt! Dark brownish pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of caramel, coffee, chocolate, hints of spice, slight earth, hints of toffee, vanilla. Taste is a mix of roast, toffee, hints of chocolate, coffee, with a slight spice, finishing fairly sweet, slightly roasty, with a hint of licorice, smoke, roast, fnishing fairly sweet, but dry and pretty balanced.

Can. Pours a nice deep, porter-esque brown with a thin mocha head, little retention (almost none... but could be the glassware). Nose is roasted malt. Mouth is medium bodied, some roasty notes, hints of chocolate, coffee, ghr usual things you’d expect from a standard Porter, with a pretty clean finish all things considered (a slightly sooty back end) Not that it’s a bad thing, but more like unremarkable in the way you’d use it as a measure for the definitive porter. Technically solid, just nothing innovative here.

12oz can from Binny’s Lakeview. Pours a deep, dark brown color with a thin tan head. Aroma is roasty, chocolate. Medium on the palate with smooth carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty, nutty, roasty, toast, chocolate, with a light, bittersweet finish.

Tap at the brewery. A paragon of the style! Some roast coffee with dark chocolate notes. Pours a nice dark brown/black with great flavors and a nice, slightly bitter ending. Maybe a tad sweet, but I like that in a porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Revolution Brewpub, Chicago - 04/11/12. Very dark mahogony brown vergeing on light black, with a thin tan head that soon clears to a small lake and the edges. Light roast malt on the nose, touch of chocolate, peppery, liqourice. Tastes of roast malt, dark caramelised sugars, burnt tofee, touch of smoke. Medium bodied with light spritzy carbonation. Nothing special, a small notch above average.
