Pouts black with nice thick layer of chocolate head. Great looking pour. Deep aroma of coffee/chocolate. Taste same thing, amazingly good. One of the better porters I remember having.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled at Rock Bottom Warrenville’s Popfest, showing a black/brown hue, decent, creamy, brownish tan head foam, and nice cling to the sheet-like lacing. The nose was smooth roastiness with expressive cocoa notes and some light smoke & char. A little less than medium bodied and medium hop bitterness, with some lingering dryness attached. Smooth & flavorful, and not normally the kind of style that I would go to on such a hot day, but it came off rather sessionable, and paired nicely with a gourmet, deep chocolate popcorn.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Scent is a super strong dark roast coffee with chocolate notes. Pours a nice dark brown/black with great coffee flavors and a nice bitter finish.

Draught at brewpub. Strong roast taste. Chocolate. Burnt to it as well. Not a heavy body. Some vanilla. Some taste of barrel. Really liked it.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the brewpub.A serviceable porter. Dark brown to black coloured body with a bit of head, lacey. Licorice and chocolate. Above average mouthfeel. Carbonation was right there. Decent drinkability, but I am coming out here paying good money and time to get something bold not something I could take out of the fridge for a couple of dollars.

A very nice porter with a bit more creaminess and a nice robust flavor but not extremely bitter or anything, just a smooth one.

This beer and I have a lot in common. Draft at the sourse. Very dark brown color, thin beige head, nice lacing. Aroma of hot cocoa with a bit of espresso. Taste is coffee and milk chocolate. Decent stuff.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
The nut-malt flavor was the big thing that stood out for me. Medium bodied and non-intrusive, meaning it didn’t hit you too hard but it still had a nice taste. I had a taster glass of it at Monk’s in Chicago’s loop, and I’d definitely order this again at Revolution’s Brewpub.

Tap at Monk’s Pub in Chicago on Dec. 5, 2011. Very dark pour with a smaller white head. Big aroma of roast, coffee, and slight sweetness. Medium smooth palate. Great taste of cocoa and roast coffee. Excellent porter.
