3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap during their first week of being open. Light nose of roasted malts. Dark brown body with a beige head. Roasted malts chocolate flavors sweet with bitter roast and cola finish. Too much sweet malt and cola flavors. 7/3/7/3/13 3.2

Cask at GTMW. Poured deep brown with a tall, looser beige head. The aroma picked up warm black patent maltage without much heft to it.. some earth and vanilla accented. The flavor found the same black patent and chocolate at the core.. some vanilla around.. OK moderate roast throughout. Medium-bodied at most on the palate.. not memorable by any stretch of the imagination.

0.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
Nearly undrinkable. I had the "cask" version of this, and I donít think Iíve ever had a more revolting beer. Smelled of caramel and coffee. The flavor was unbelievably weak with only hints of bitter coffee and rotting cabbage. It was so watered down with a thin feel that there was almost no taste. The alcohol was upfront and unpleasant. The overall bar, beer quality and beer offering was a complete disappointment.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
I had this on tap at Revolution. My good friend described this as a watered down porter. I agreed that for a porter it was relatively more watered than other porters, but I didnít think it was "watered down". He continued to make fun of me for that statement for the next 10 min. As for this beer, I thought it was pretty good...definite chocolate and lactose notes, good balance, relatively creamy.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled at Revolution. Poured near black with a brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma sweet dark grains with bitter dark chocolate and just a hint of dark fruit. Flavor was similar with sweet dark grains in the start, dark chocolate towards the finish with just a bit of underlying dark fruit.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at brewpub. Pours almost black with dark tan head. Aroma is heavy on roasted malts and chocolate with some light coffee mixed in. Flavor is dry and roasty with fair amount of roasted malts and bitter chocolate. Coffee is mixed in as well. Finishes dry and bitter. Pretty solid porter.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very deep brown. Tan head, mixed but mostly fine bubbles. Lots of lace. Nose is mild and just vaguely coffee-ish but this stuff really comes alive once tasted. Big old coffee flavor, not complex but deep and rich w/ an earthy hop bitterness. Well rounded and really tasty. Best yet from Revolution.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a very dark hue, black, opaque, with a decent light brown head atop that stays at a decent level, good lacing though. Aromas are a fine blast of chocolate malts, combining bittersweet roast, coffee, and semi sweet chocolate, with a decent bittering hop. Roast, bitter, not overly sweet. Initial is sturdy, heavier side of medium bodied, throwing roasty coffee, bitter chocolate with a touch of sweetness inside, good bitterness coats the palate from a decent hopping that lingers towards the back of the palate, roast and bitter hops, bitter cocoa. This beer is straightforward but is quite tasty. Roasted dark cacao is the dominant flavor, really. Natural, bitter, lovely. It would truly be amazing if they could make this with about 6% ABV, it tastes lovely, but at 7 is a little tough to session. Just one guyís opinion. Finish is roasty and natural dark chocolate bitterness goodness. A great beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at brewery. This has quite a lot of intensity for a porter. Pour is black with a thick looking tan head. Aroma is lots of roasted malt, light coffee, light molasses, and semi-sweet chocolate. Flavor is also nice and large. Very roasty and sweet with notes of molasses and coffee. Really good, my favorite on from then so far.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Revolution. Pours a dark brown, near black. Nice off-tan head. Nose is robust and chocolatey with mellow coffee notes beneath. Taste is much the same, has a slick and full mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Very well put together.
