A striking, robust porter full of warmth and chocolate malt. Eugene is a robust porter named after Eugene V. Debs, an American union leader and activist who led the Pullman Railroad strike in 1894. An assortment of Belgian specialty malts form a complex structure of toasted grain and caramel flavors. Dark chocolate malt makes this porter black as night and infuses it with its distinct intense, chocolate essence.

12 oz. can pours a dark brown with lasting tan head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, and roasted malts as expected, but with hints of raisins and vanilla as well. Taste is on the sweet side, with a long chocolatey finish. Mouthfeel is creamy and body is medium. A very good porter I am sure to try again.

Clear, medium brown color with an off-white head. Roasted malt, chocolate, and good quality coffee aromas. Very appealing! Nice roasted flavor without being too bitter. Not too heavy either.

Pretty tasty porter by Revbrew, though I like some of their other selection much better. Lots of coffee and cocoa on the nose. Very dark with a nice tan finger head that dissipates. Medium bodied. Taste is roasted coffee, cocoa, and some toffee. Pretty solid. Had it on tap from the brew pub.

Pours a black with a medium dark tan head. Aroma has roasted malts, coffee, cocoa, and some chocolate undertones. A good amount of chocolate makes itself known immediately upon drinking. Cocoa flavors are present, along with some vanilla. Still very roasty. Medium bodied with a creamy texture. Chocolaty aftertaste lasts quite awhile. While not outstanding, this is a solid effort here.

Had on tap at Palmer Place. Served in a shaker pint. A: Pours a dark black with a thick mocha head. Sticky lace is left down the side of the glass. S: Smells of light cocoa and coffee fill the nose with a touch of roasted malts. There is also a hint of sweet vanilla. T: Roasted malts are complimented with a nice mocha flavor and some milk chocolate. There is a little bit of vanilla sweetness in the middle and some minimal dark fruits towards the backend. M: Medium bodied with a full flavor. There is a little prickly carbonation to play with a tongue a bit and keep it interesting. O: A very solid and flavorful porter. High drinkability. I recommend. Aroma of light grain. Taste is light. Easy drinking with a thin mouth. Just a slight roast taste. Overall not bad.
