3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A very nice porter with a bit more creaminess and a nice robust flavor but not extremely bitter or anything, just a smooth one.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer and I have a lot in common. Draft at the sourse. Very dark brown color, thin beige head, nice lacing. Aroma of hot cocoa with a bit of espresso. Taste is coffee and milk chocolate. Decent stuff.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
The nut-malt flavor was the big thing that stood out for me. Medium bodied and non-intrusive, meaning it didn’t hit you too hard but it still had a nice taste. I had a taster glass of it at Monk’s in Chicago’s loop, and I’d definitely order this again at Revolution’s Brewpub.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Monk’s Pub in Chicago on Dec. 5, 2011. Very dark pour with a smaller white head. Big aroma of roast, coffee, and slight sweetness. Medium smooth palate. Great taste of cocoa and roast coffee. Excellent porter.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Revolution. Dark brown, thinnest white ring, lightly oily. Nose is charcoal, chocolate, bit of anise and roast. Flavor has heavy chocolate by comparison, bit of rotten earth, yeasty and bitter through the finish. With warmth comes more alcohol and yeast, chalky dry finish that’s bitter and slightly balanced. My rating comes off way more muddled than the beer did, which was in fact quite nice.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A deep dark porter with a thin brown head. In aroma, a sweet powdery chocolate with light dark fruits. In mouth, a smooth sweet fruity chocolate, powdery, some off astringency, a bit cloying. On tap at brewpub, Nov. 11 2011.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours dark brown, deep ruby with thick light brown head and great retention. Aroma is coffee, dark chocolate, mildly aggressive roast. Taste is green hops, chocolate cake, coffee. Body is medium, creamy, slick, average carbonation, dry roasted finish. Overall, my first brew from revolution and a fantastic one.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Had this from a growler that I filled at Rev. Pours a dark chocolate color with a dark head
Pungent and rich nose of roasted coffee, chocolate, toffee and various malt tones
Full bodied with a real smooth feel. Richer, but far from boozy with mostly roasted coffee and chocolate flavors
This is a quality porter that Rev has year round. Balanced, and though it is rich it is far from boozy.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft pours dark brown in color with a lasting one-finger tan head and some lacing. The aroma is typical of an American porter, roasty and chocolaty with some earthiness. The flavor is moderately intense with a mildly sweet chocolate base and some roast/char notes that add a dryness. Medium-bodied and fairly drying with average carbonation. A good beer overall.
