COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A striking, robust porter full of warmth and chocolate malt. Eugene is a robust porter named after Eugene V. Debs, an American union leader and activist who led the Pullman Railroad strike in 1894. An assortment of Belgian specialty malts form a complex structure of toasted grain and caramel flavors. Dark chocolate malt makes this porter black as night and infuses it with its distinct intense, chocolate essence.

On draft. Black color with one finger off white head. Coffee and chocolate aroma. Really smooth, not too heavy coffee taste and really easy to drink.

Very dark brown color with a medium tan head - larger than most porters. Aroma: lost on my screwed up sinuses. Taste is dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla...and a sourness (not intense, but enough to overpower the other flavors) that I just canít place - canít imagine that itís yeast. That sourness makes this not particularly enjoyable. I probably wonít try this one again, even though my beer buddies say itís a "decent, not great" one - too many other really good ones to have instead.

12 Oz bottle. Pours black with a big tan head. Nice, dark malt aromas of brown sugar, molasses, chocolate and raspberry. Flavor is sweet up front, with berry notes. Morphs to mild roasted malt character with nice coffee. Finishes with a velvety, bitter roasted linger. Full body with a thick mouthfeel and mild carbonation. Overall, a tasty Porter. Great aromas, but fairly simple flavor profile.

12oz can poured into a shaker. Aromas of coffee, grass, and caramel come through as well as a floral touch. It pours a dark, opaque caramel brown color with a tan, even, small-bubbled head. A thick ring with a sudsy surface is retained and a messy lace is left on the glass. The taste is a medium sweet and light bitter combination. The oily beer has a medium malty body with a soft and sudsy carbonation. Coffee, chocolate, figs, and plums come through on the palate with a floral, herb, and spice finish. Clean and fresh chocolate and grass notes stick around in the aftertaste. Overall, thereís a noteable spice note that stands out (for a porter).

5oz pour at the Revolution brew pub pours a translucent, deep brown with some cloudy, white head. Nose has lots of roasty notes, mild coffee, burnt toast, pencil lead, some chocolate. Flavor is malty, molasses, heavy toast, some coffee, a little dirt, some roasted mushroom. Dry finish.

A can I picked up at the South Loop Binnyís in Chicago as part of make your own mix 6-pack for 10$. 6.8% It pours pitch black with a beige head of foam that leaves spotty lacing behind. Served in a snifter it has a sweet savoury chocolate aroma with hints of smoked honey glazed ham. Medium to full bodied with a fairly smooth mouthfeel. The taste is meaty dark bitter chocolate, a hint of smoked ham, very savoury and sweet with a mildly roasty semi-dry finish. This is really nice.

Dark cola color with half finger of khaki colored head. Smells of bakers chocolate, anise, tea. Taste is a mix of the chocolate and anise, with a earthy roasted malt, cigarette ash, vanilla. Slick mouthfeel, slightly acidic, low bitter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
