COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A striking, robust porter full of warmth and chocolate malt. Eugene is a robust porter named after Eugene V. Debs, an American union leader and activist who led the Pullman Railroad strike in 1894. An assortment of Belgian specialty malts form a complex structure of toasted grain and caramel flavors. Dark chocolate malt makes this porter black as night and infuses it with its distinct intense, chocolate essence.

a decent porter, though there was a certain odd chemical aftertaste just barely in the background. otherwise very good.

From the can, 07/17/2013. Pours deep brown, opaque, medium creamy light tan head, great retention. Aroma is chocolate cake batter, caramel, slightly sour coffee, smooth dark roast. Taste is full, round chocolate and toffee with nice coffee notes, roast present but not overly bitter. Medium body, well-balanced, easy to drink. Pretty nice, I dig it.

A warn, robust porter full of chocolate. Very smooth going down. Not bitter either. Just flavorful beer.

Pour is cola brown with a light coffee head and some large bubbles. Nose is roast, pitted olive, light coffee rind, and some light chocolate cake batter. Body is full up front but thins in back. Taste is heavy roast, the other aspects from the nose are there but take a back seat to the roast. Highly carbonated through the finish and a touch slick on the back of the throat.

Ashes and malted milk balls is what i get. Its not bad but its just huge on charcoal and whoppers. Roasty and lactose heavy with slight acidity and moderate sweetness.

Extremely lactosy and very light bitterness, huge foamy head, I like this one

A dark pour that disguises a light and very drinkable body. Good flavor that steers clear of the overly bitter finish. Slightly sweet and fruity.

Coffee roasted, pitch black with brown head, taste with chocolate, coffee, malt, smooth easy drink, balanced carbonated with bitterness, drink great in a can.

12 oz. Can from 6pk pours jet black with a 1 finger dark khaki head that settles quickly showing minimal lacing. Aromas of toffee, chocolate, roasted malt, bubble gum, candied sugar, booze. Mouthfeel has medium carbonation with some bittersweet chocolate and a creamy maltiness that somewhat dominates the palate with some slight hop tartness, chalkiness towards the finish. Do get some boozey burn in the throat by the time your done. A great session porter (?). Yep. So easy to down a few. One of my favorite beers currently.
