3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can. An almost black one, topped by a small, dense light beige head. There’s coffee, dark chocolate and some brown sugar in the aroma. Hints of dried fruits too. It’s full bodied and smooth on the palate, semi dry and pleasantly carbonated. Brown sugar, prunes, some roasted malts and mocha. Some vanilla hints. Lasting finish. Very smooth and tasteful, well worth a revisit. 150207

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: OCT 19, 2010 Sample at the brewpub. Pours brownish-black with a creamy medium light brown head that diminishes slowly. Patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate punctuated by coffee. Medium body with flavors of dark chocolate, coffee, hops and toasted malt. The finish is sweet cocoa initially and leaves a lingering hoppy bitterness behind. Pretty good all around.
