COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Today we’re releasing Fistcal Cliff, an IPA brewed in collaboration with Half Acre, Three Floyds, and Bluejacket for the 2013 Craft Brewers Conference. This brew proves that multiple parties can indeed create something beautifully balanced. Each brewery provided their own hops and we dry-hopped it twice with hops from Hop Head Farms. Our Brewmaster Jim Cibak calls this a "deceptively drinkable hoppy ale" with flavors and aromas of spring flowers, a smorgasbord of fresh citrus, and a faint hint of mint.

This one poured a hazy orange color with an off whie head. Aroma was of oranges and gras. Flavor was similar, citrusy and grapefruit with mild earthy grass notes. Solid IPA.

Sampled during CBC 2013. Amber orange pour with a small khaki head. Nice hop aroma, not over the top, light citrus fruits and some pine, fair bready malt balance. Better flavor, more hop character (which I like), plenty of citrus, pine, a hint of tropical fruits, and a good malt balance. Tasty.

Draft at Bavarian Lodge. Hazy orange color in a fat tulip glass. Bubbly head that leaves many layers of lace. Nose reveals fresh green hops, mostly with pine notes. Taste is full of bright crystal malt and piny hops in pleasing proportions. After a few sips, the sides of my tongue feel a bit of burn from mint, or is that apricot dipped in unsweetened cocoa powder. In other words, very complex, full of flavor, yet enjoyable.

Tap at church key. Notes of pleasant tangerine tropical fruits. Grapefruit. Toasted caramel. Peculiar floral piney twang. Fine

Growler from Kedzie taproom pours a clear orange with medium off-white head, some rising bubbles and spotty lacing. Pungent aroma has lots of tangerine, grapefruit, and orange, with some dank earthy hops and a bit of bready malts and cereal grains. Taste is bitter at first, sweet in the middle, and bitter again on the finish. Body is medium with light carbonation. Mouthfeel is slightly sticky. At first I thought this was another great hop bomb from Three Floyds, but it became a little more normal as it warmed up. Still, a very good IPA from all involved. I regret that this came from the last keg available at the brewery, since I would go back for more if I could.

Draft at Churchkey with Megan sitting next to me, but she’s talking to someone else, so I’m sneaking this one in. Clear bright golden color, fluffy white head. Aroma of nice fruit and perfume with just a touch of scallions. Taste is bitter grass, fruit. Very nice.
