3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Red amber pour from tap with thin head. Spicy aroma of cinnamon, ginger, licorice, and orange peel are most noticeable. Chewy nutty chocolate malt flavors overwhelm hints of bitter hops. Hops try to emerge, but never quite break through the malty spiciness noted above. Overall, decent Christmas ale that could age well.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled at the STL Hops 7th Anniversary Party - Pours clear copper with a tan head. The aroma has ginger, toast, spice and dry malt. It has a medium / light crisp body with semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with crackers, gingerbread cookies and Christmas spices. The finish is dry and has some graham cracker notes. Nice Christmas ale.

12 oz can. Kind of a Christmas ale and IPA hybrid. Hoppy but has way Too much clove and holiday spice.

A dark brown only slight clarity. Nose has a lot of holiday spice. Nutty and woods and spicy all at the same time. Itís a nice malty taste. Lots of clove and brown sugar and maple syrup. The backbone is nice but itís not a beer Iíd drink often

12 oz can Chris brought from Ohio. Pours a cloudy amber with a thick tan head that settles after about a minute leaving some lacing. Piney hop notes up front followed by ginger and some spice. Flavors almost the same as aromas but more spice and orange as the beer warmed up. Different than what I was expecting, being more hop forward than spice. Good stuff.

On tap at the brewpub. Deep red pour. Definitely has a Christmas cookie taste...not sure what. Anise, orange/lemon peel. They say ginger in the deScription and I suppose I can taste a little of it. Nice beer...Iím normally not a huge fan of Christmas beers but I can do this one.

Can pour - bought and enjoyed around a mile from the brewery. This is a stellar seasonal ale. Beautiful copper to caramel in tone, pours with a foamy white head. Not overly spiced - the ginger and orange pieces are balanced and joined by an almost minty feel which invokes candy canes and peppermint. Complex and warming. A local favorite

12 oz bottle. Amber color, very short off white head. Aroma of pine, orange peel, caramel, pepper. Pine, bitter hops, citrus, spices, light malts, hay. An odd mix of pale ale and holiday brew, not sure it works.

Rating from a can of "Revolution Fistmas Holiday Ale" -
Iím wary of holiday beers. I mean, do I really need another mouthful of cinnamon and nutmeg?
This oneís got a nice pour, a deep amber/orange body capped by a tan head. The aroma is Christmas cookie spices, mayhaps a touch of pine, some caramel sweetness. The taste is much the same, but the malt is more full-bodied and flavorful, the spices playing a more complementary role and not being overwhelming. It finishes fairly dry with a quiet spicy bitterness. Not too shabby.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Medium-bodied and sessionable, with a body of spicy vegetable notes, cinnamon stick and ginger. Finishes with a touch of toffee malt as spicy, festive undertones linger. Balances its sweet spice notes with a medium-bodied texture, preferable to the Great Lakes to me, as it isnít as thin.
