From 22 oz. bomber to pint glass. Moderate head and carbonation. Aroma is piney, dank. Taste is northwest hops, piney, citrus, and citra? Mild bitterness with some sweet malt and moderate mouthfeel.

Taste leans heavy towards the bitter hoppy side of things with a decidedly earthy profile. Spice and herbs are present, but not in the spice-rack-dumped-into-the-kettle kind of way that many Christmas brews are. The hops play nicely with the spices. A touch of clove and spruce in the middle which prevent any sweetness from coming through. The finish is dry and quick. Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation with a medium body. I was hesitant to try this as I often times am not a fan of spiced Xmas brews, but this was a nice surprise. The spices are present, but tame enough to let the beer qualities shine through.

22oz bottle 12/17/12 (Trader Joe’s-Naperville)-40° in Lager Glass-Pours a clear ruby red with a small off white ring for a head. Aroma of hops, malt, and spices. Taste of pine, hops, malt, spices, ginger, and toffee. This medium bodied brew is a nice well balanced and tasty christmas brewm

On tap at Matilda, Chicago. Fairly syrupy mouthfeel. Very sweet toffee flavor. Ginger and spice notes do come through and a little bit of fruity hoppyness. An overly-sweet mess, but at least had some depth of flavor to back it up.

22oz bottle. Clear red color. Barely any white head. Nice fresh-hoppy citrus nose. Medium body, light crisp carbonation. Spice works cool with the hops. Light bitterness. It’s nice to see one of these winter spice ales actually by hoppy, cool surprise.

Nice Christmas brew. Kind of reminds me of Ninkasi’s Sleigh’r. Dank piney resin nose and taste. Dark slightly reddish brown. Spice is there but well integrated. Don’t get much pronounced ginger.

The funny thing is just before i came across this beer I brewed a piney hop ipa with galangal as a Cmass beer. THis one is good, well balanced, not too much spices. Awesome.

Not a bad Xmas ale. But there are many better on the market. I actually enjoy a heavier spice profile than this one has. More nutmeg or cinnamon or other seasonal spices would improve this. Having said that, it’s a good beer. Pours a nice cloudy reddish copper color with a this head. Not much lacing. Aroma has lots of malt and dry hops along with some orange peel and very slight ginger. Taste and aroma are in sync. Overall a nice beer with some warmth to it.

Bottle and served in Corsendonk Christmas Ale glass: Pours a deep amber hue with a nice off-white head and very good lace. Sadly everything went downhill from there... the nose as a nice bready and caramel malt tone with a moderate amount of pine and candied fruit, where is the ginger? The taste is sweet malt and light piney and citric hops... again where is the ginger and the bright citrus from the orange peel? RU sure Samuel Adams or Goose Island did not brew this? Dumbed down for the masses... I am sad!

Pours a clear orange brown in a sampler at the brewpub. Nose is mildly roasted alcohol with a bit of pine. Flavor is watery with some hops in the throat on the second swig.
