draft, pours black with khaki head. aroma has baker’s chocolate, milky. flavor has dark coffee roast, chocolate, and it becomes rather creamy with vanilla finish. Med body easy drinking. Good milk stout but becomes rather sweet after about 8oz.

UPDATED: NOV 4, 2012 On tap at Revolution. Dark black pour with a thin head in a tulip glass. Nice nose of roast and chocolate with some of that lactose. The roast and bitterness balances out the sweetness well overall. Overtime it gets to be a little too sweet. But a solid milk stout for sure. 7/4/73/15

22 oz bottled version. The lactose is still a little too much. But the roast and chocolate balance it out well enough. Not too sweet. It works decently well 7/4/7/3/7/15

Smooth, rich, dark and full of rich chocolate and bourbon. A nose of warm vanilla with a slight boozy undertone. A sticky, sweet texture and just a pleasure to drink. It was the best beer offered last Saturday at the Half Acre On Photon party, Revolution gets two big thiumbs up from this guy!

On-tap. A - Dark black color with a large, creamy, foamy, thick, khaki head. Good retention with a thick creamy layer of lace. S - Good amount of roasted dark and milk chocolate and malt with touches of coffee and caramel. A sweet lactose aroma also comes out, but it isn’t overly strong for a Milk Stout. T - Similar to the nose with a good balance of sweet lactose and sweet creaminess along with the roasted chocolate and malt. Hints of vanilla also come out. Some roasted coffee and caramel and a touch of earthiness. It tastes somewhere between a typical Milk Stout and a regular stout with a good level of lactose sweetness but also has a touch of a roasted/bitterness to it. M - Medium body that is a touch thin for the style and ABV but not bad. Good amount of carbonation with a smooth and creamy feel. D - Very drinkable beer with a great mix of roasted flavors and sweet lactose. Different kinds of chocolate/cocoa flavors come out. Well balanced beer. Alcohol is pretty well hidden, but gives a slight warming. Notes: A very nice Milk Stout that has a great balance between the sweet lactose aspects and the more bitter roasted chocolate aspects. Definitely worth a try.

Draft taster, June 7. Deep black, with a thin head. Smell has some light chocolate, but the taste goes much deeper to cocoa country. Warming alcohol gives this an impression of a chocolate cordial. Overall impression is sweet, with a bit of roastiness and hoppiness in the background.

On tap at the brewpub.
Pours a deep, inky black that allows only shades of dark chestnut along the edges. A creamy off-white head sits atop the ink for nearly the duration of the drinking session. Aroma is a bit faint but gives up roast grain, a little chocolate, a dose of vanilla, a tiny hint of oak, and a smidgen of dried dark fruits. Flavor is crunchy bitter-roast grains tempered by sweet chocolate, cream, lactose, a bit of vanilla, and yep, there’s that tiny touch of dried fruits again. Palate is thick and creamy with a roast-grain aftertaste. Quite drinkable.

Snifter at revbrew... Pours a medium dark cola brown wit a thin wispy tan head... Aroma of sweet molasses and a prominent roasted malt aspect with softer coffee undertones... Flavors are semi-sweet with a little lactose. Chocolate and roasted malt aspects. Perfectly drinkable if a little thin for being 7.5 abv. Not bad.

UPDATED: JUN 6, 2010 Draft at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a pretty much pitchblack opaque pour, dark and ominous snifter with a very large khaki head, laces well and cakes. Aromas are a hefty dose of sweet lactose and cocoa, light coffee and roasted malts come in behind, with caramel and smoothed out vanilla, sweet oats, and more creamy lactose sweetness moving in. Initial is medium bodied, a bit nitro’d perhaps, with sweet vanilla and lactose up front, roast and coffee with a touch of ashyness moving in at the backend. More cocoa up front, a touch of caramel, but sweet and bitter chocolate are prevalent, lactose creamy sweetness and a touch of vanilla. Earthy coffee and roasted malts really grow on the backend, making this a sweet stout that balances back towards roast on the backend. Smooth and silky, lingering roastiness and coffee grounds, quite a well balanced sweeter stout in my opinion. Tasty indeed. Probably the 2nd best "Sweet Stout" in regards to overall taste, balance, appearance, palate that I’ve ever had. Really surprised a Sweet Stout (which by nature, is lactose dominant) has such a roasty earthy coffee lingering finish. Very nice beer! I still give the nod to Depth Charge, but this is a great Sweet Stout.

growler. aroma is sharp chocolate, general roast, seems balanced immediately. flavor is sizzling cocoa and only a trace of the sweetness expected, easily quaffable and devoid of cloying notes. mushy chocolate pleases.

Draft at Revolution (got a growler to go home also). Pour dark brown/black with dark tan head. Aroma of roast and heavy chocolate. Rich and sweet chocolate flavor. I thought it was a nicely done stout.
