A German-style pilsner that gets its name from the Emma Lazarus poem, "The New Colossus," where she describes her personal interpretation of the Statue of Liberty as the "Mother of Exiles." This beer has a spicy, slightly grassy flavor that kicks in mid-palate and continues on to a crisp, bitter finish. Being a lager-style beer, we gave it an extended cold aging period, which adds to its clean drinkability.

On tap @ Revolution. Golden in color with a white head. Nice orange and pine hop nose. Some floral hops, bread, and toast. A bit of grass, straw, and sweet tarts as well. There’s a nice malt sweetness to the palate, but a pleasant bitterness to balance it out. Tons of orange and floral hops. Good pine, bread, and a bit of grass.

Sampled at the brewpub. Pours pale golden with a white head. Aroma of pale malts, dough, and light bread with hints of bitterness. Flavor the same. Lighter texture. Not bad for the style.

Sample at the brewpub. Clear golden. A white ring and no carbonation visible. A bit of honey and grain in the nose. Those are tasted along with just a bitbof honey. A smidge of European hops that are spicy and lightly bitter. Soft and easy drinking.

Thanks to Westmeister for giving me a break between big barley wines and stouts today by cracking this beer. Requisite light toasty grain but the presence of the toastiness is a little bigger and more pronounced. Grassy herbal hops. Easy to drink with a little more character than many a pils you will come across.

Average slightly sticky pils with a nice bit of noble hop background. The sweetness is a bit high for my liking but overall still enjoyable.

UPDATED: MAR 27, 2014 Bottle: Clear yellow and gold pour, nice filtered look. Wispy bone white head fades to a collar quick. Aroma is fairly light and subdued, not much aside from some clean, fresh barley and grains with a hint of lager yeast. Taste is some sweet pilsner malt, faint graininess and a touch of blanketed, musky hops, likely of the Noble variety. Good, fresh, dry, bready yeast with an onsetting bitterness that fades into the finish nicely. Dry, clean, thin bodied with crispy, biting carbonation. Nice, easy drinking, fresh pilsner. Wish the nose was a little more lively but it’s a good take on the style.
