Our first real hoppy stout that tastes a lot like what people are calling Black IPAs these days. This is an American Stout that features both roasty and hoppy characters from Roasted Barley and dark Caramel malts plus Cascade and Galaxy hops.

Can't believe I've never seen this. Poured from 22 oz bottle. Jet black with no head. Nutty chocolate aroma. Delicious black IPA / stout hybrid. Rich flavor. Hoppy. Great balance.

Bottled. Pours black with a medium-brown head. A fair amount of lacing but nothing spectacular. Roasty malt nose with just a hint of grassy hops. Flavor is rich, roasty malt. Notes of coffee and cocoa powder. A nice hop bitterness to the finish. Medium palate with a fair amount of carbonation. A solid if not a spectacular American Stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy from my iPad.

Thanks Adam. Enjoyed at 55F in a Cantillon Wine glass. No head even on a vigorous pour. Poured like BCBS, oily but yet only 7.5%! Nose is fruity like tangerines and raisins with some dark chocolate. Taste is nice. Drinks like a stout with the hoppiness of an IPA and the mouth feel of a porter. The texture of this at such a low ABV is just interesting. Itís a great beer and the galaxy hops are so easy to pick out and so delicious.

A: Wow, huge grapefruit and mango citrus - chocolate covered orange peel, subtle roasted malts and coffee A: Pours a dark brown and sits pitch black with a creamy mocha head - great lacing and retention T: Very bitter and surprisingly refreshing. Big citrus hops, bitter dark chocolate and coffee, and subtle caramel P: Pretty active carbonation, medium body. Smooth and refreshing O: The hops hide almost all stout character, but it works really well, however, doesnít warm well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This poured a medium to dark brown color with a beige head. Aroma was of earthy and orange rind hops, with light choclate and roast there as well. Flavor was a good blend of bitter and herbal hops, blended with ashey burnt malts and chocolate. Good.

Really nice roast and deep dark chocolate notes. Medium body with moderate carbonation. A bit of extra roast in the finish, but quite nice

22 oz bottle pours a very dark brown/black with small mocha head and some lacing. Nose is surprisingly full of piney and citrus hops. Aroma has the roasted malts and coffee I expect in a stout, but the finish is bitter and hoppy. A great tasting brew, whether you call it a stout or a black IPA. Body is only medium, with average carbonation. Another winner from Revolution.

bottle. Pours dark with light head around the rim. The aroma is mostly hops which was a little suprising. The taste is actually pretty thin for a stout. Can for sure taste the connection to a black ipa, not that is bad or good. A decent brew, but nothing that blew me away.

Man it really is a great tasting brew! I for sure would call this a black IPA! The aromatic character is hop forward with a soft roasted malt backbone. It pours deep brown with light brown head that lingers. Taste is happy mixed with malty. I love it. Mildly bitter and slightly citrus. Palate is heavy and full. Overall a fantastic beer!
