A highly drinkable ale steeped with hibiscus flowers and a touch of orange peel for a natural tartness and slight pink hue.

This was pretty brutal with a funky aftertaste. It had an odd lemon peel meets leather bag type of thing going on. It looked good, and smelled bright with lemon notes. The aftertaste is what killed it. Iím not sure exactly what happened, but it tasted sour, dry.

Just not for me. Reddish copper color. Aroma is yeasty-winey. Taste is tangy and sour, not very beer-like. Iím not a fan, so donít really feel like writing anything else.

On tap @ Revolution. Pink/red pour with a white head. Floral aroma, some butter, and a hint of orange zest. Some bready malt, soda water, and hibiscus. The taste is kind of sweet and a touch buttery. Some soda water and orange zest. Kind of meh.

Draft pour. Pink and red blush coloring with noticeably fizzy carbonation. Light drinking hibiscus ale with a citrus backend. Highly drinkable thirst quencher.

On tap, poured into a snifter. The aromas are light. Thereís some rose water, and floral notes as well as a touch of candi sugar, and a touch of citrus zest. It pours a clear, pink / amber body with a light, frothy white head. The beer retains a medium-light micro bubble ring with a clear surface with a clear, runny lace. The beer has a medium sweetness with a very light bitter finish. Itís texture is thin and watery with a nearly flat carbonation and a light body. It finishes with a floral flavor and some citrus. Thereís a juicy and spicy combination in the light aftertaste as well as a very mellow grassy character.

12 oz can purchased at Loloís in the Midway airport, Chicago, Illinois. Apr 30 2014 stamped on the bottom of the can. The pour is golden pink, mostly clear with a 1/2 inch white head that also has a pinkish hue. The aroma is the hibiscus floral along with a sweet soft caramel malt. The taste is the hibiscus floral and sweet malt, along with a noticeable orange/lemon citrus. The palate is light bodied with soft active carbonation and a pleasant grass floral dry finish. Easy drinking beer.

A widely available beer, at least in the local market, I grabbed a single to figure out if this was worth the purchase of a full six pack. After trying it once I think it might be. If you are into a change of pace from the typical American pale ale give it a shot. It may even be a great gateway beer for getting people into craft beer.

Aroma / Appearance - A carbonated ruby red base with thin eggshell head is delicate in the glass. Floral aspects with fresh strawberries and rosy undertones are like a flower shop in a pint glass.

Flavor / Palate - The carbonation might be a little too strong but that is the only flaw in this otherwise excellent release. Hibiscus, rose petals, and light malt tickle the tongue. A summery feel makes this ideal for a picnic or while cooking on the patio. Once again Revolution has a winner on their hands.

Can: Very light copper-y color with a mild, grapefruit tint to it, the off-white head fizzles away almost instantly. Aroma has mild honey-like sweetness, a hint of orange flesh, mild grain, & just a very light inclusion of floral hops, likely more from the hibiscus than anything. Mild aroma overall. Taste is crisp & light as well, but still presents more than the aroma did. A touch of orange with a sharp fruity zest that feigns tartness, but the beer really isnít what Iíd call "tart". Malts seem toastier on the palate, a little sweetness left lingering, & it works nicely with the floral notes. Faintly metallic but not distractingly so, the floral & moderately earthy hop character lingers on the palate in the aftertaste with just a hint of burnt crackers.
