Draft to taster at Revolution. Pours a clear golden color with a small off whitehead. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, caramel, bbigger resiny hops, citrus, some dank character, moderate bitterness that lingers, grapefruit peel, pretty solid.

[Tap] Dark golden colored pour with some orange highlights. About an inch of foamy head on top. Aromas of tropical fruits, pineapple, grapefruit and caramel malts. Notes of sticky caramel, resin, citrus peel, bitter leafy hops and sweet breads. Moderately bitter. Sticky palate thanks to low carbonation. Not bad.

On cask at World Of Beer. Pours a slightly murky orange-gold color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, hops and malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of grapefruit, piney hops and roast malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a lingering citrusy hops aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Burnt orange color with a single finger head. Aroma has some dish soap and lemon qualities to it. Very floral. Light to medium mouth. Taste is complex. Full of citrus, pine, a little sugar and resin. Juicy as hell. Good lacing on the glass.

I enjoyed this IPA quite a bit, because there’s a significant amount of sweetness to balance the bitterness. On tap at Revolution brewpub in Chicago.

On tap at Revolution, Chicago. In addition to typical IPA notes here, there’s also sweet fruitiness to it which adds a enjoyable complexity to it. Refreshing.

Draft on March 27th, 2013 at Churchkey. Aroma kind of soapy for some reason. Medium bitterness, some orange. Medium body. Okay, not great.

Growler from Kedzie taproom. Pours a clear orange/copper color with small off-white head and very little lacing. Aroma is full of citrus hops (grapefruit, orange) with some pine resin and barely any malts. Taste is initially sweet like orange juice with some dank dead-mouse hoppiness in the middle, and then more hops and some alcohol in the finish. Body is medium without too much carbonation. Mouthfeel is oily. After enjoying Double Fist several times, I was looking forward to this one. The bartender expained, accurately, that Double Fist is more malt-forward, making this something of a hop bomb. I was somewhat disappointed in the lack of balance and the dank hop taste that I find in only a few IIPAs (notably Lupulin Maximus). Fortunately, it gets better as it warms up.
