2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
draft. Cascade and Citra-hopped but the Belgian yeast overwhelms. medium light body, high acid, high bitterness. medium-high sweetness (consumed in tutti fruttti esters). the citra and cascade are drowned and quieted leaving the whole experience one of sugar, esters and acid and way out of balance in their favor. iron / metal / dishsoap phenols show up when warmer. disappointingly bad.

On tap at the Kedzie location. Pours a near clear yellow gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of grapefruit with some underlying earthy citrus and a bit of sweet grain. Flavor has citrus throughout with a bit of sweet grain backed by a hi t of grapefruit bitterness.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft sample at MWBBF. Pours a clear gold with a small white head. The aroma delivers fresh, clean hop character- citra fruitiness- with bready malts, mild spice, and an overall light Belgian yeast character in the nose. Flavor of bready malts, citrus and tropical fruits, straw, wheat, and dry grains. Medium-bodied, with a clean mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Nice Belgian IPA.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft on tap at the Kedzie Avenue Brewery (Chicago, IL). This location is growing on me.. Likely the easier/free parking, smaller crowd, and warehouse vibe. With that said, pours a well hazed golden straw hue, yellow glow with a firm haze, frothy offwhite head that dies to a film, laces ok and sticks around. Aromas are gentle Belgian yeast, spice, and dry floral hops. Touches of coriander. Touches of citrus, straw, grass with gentle grapefruit, tropical essence, and firm floral dryness. Initial offers a lighter experience, a touch of dryness and spice grows up front, florals and grass, touches of doughy malts are subtle. Some spice, touch of pepper, and dry earthy and citrusy hops mox into the fold. More pepper, yeast, dry dust and dry grainy cereal malts into the backend. A rich blast of grapefruit and citrus gives some life up front growing into the middle, dying out into a dry yeasty backend, crisp malts. Firm, enjoyable, fairly impressive for a 4.7 beer aside from a more heavy handed yeast element at times. A great sessioner, I think. I bet others will be more inclined to give it a higher score than me.. the Belgian yeast influence gets in my way a bit too easily.. but overall, the American hop profile and strength of it really is a winner.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampled at the Midwest Belgian Beer Fest 2012 - Pours clear yellow with a white head. The aroma has lots of citrus and grapefruit hoppiness and a mild amount of malt with a cleanness that isn’t in most Belgian IPAs. It has a medium / light body with semi-sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with the clean hoppiness of the aroma with some fruitiness and tropical hops. It has a nice balancing malt presence and Belgian yeast. The finish is quite refreshing. Well done.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Growler. Pours golden yellow with slight haze and foamy white. Aroma has a nice soft clementine, orange zest, and white grape. Nice nose. Flavors have citrus kick, clementines and cantaloup, honey malt notes, very subtle spice character. I’m guessing it’s a Belgian and American yeast blend as the yeast doesn’t have a clear belgian character. Could really use higher bitterness as the finish sorta dies off real short. It is still a tasty BPA even though far from stellar.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Rev. Pours a slightly hazed deep gold with a frothy white head. Nose is citrusy and tropical, well integrated with the soft yeast notes. I dig the restrained yeast. Taste is juicy with a medium bitterness. Grassy and citrusy with a woody bitterness to it that I really like. Probably fermented on the cooler side due to the restrained phenol and light sulfur. Really enjoyable, light candy on the finish.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rev strange bird. Growler thanks to dan and the neiweems... Pours a
clean mostly transparent medium orange brown hue and topped with a
thin to medium soapy white head... Nice fresh clean citra and tropical
fruit aroma. Juicy and pleasant... Flavors are somewhat lacking
compared to the aroma. Not so much of a Belgian yeast profile. Flavors fall a bit short and crisp, lightly dry. Ok but really enjoyed the aroma more so than the flavor.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear, golden-yellow colored body with a finger-width, dense and frothy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is solid with lots of bright, citrus pines and tropical fruits with a nice Belgian yeast note that accompanies the hops well rather than taking the forefront. A light spiciness, some resins, and a grainy pale malt backing. Flavor is lighter with grainy pale malts, spicy yeast, and some grapefruit pines up front before the Belgian yeast comes in a bit more with a few tropical florals. A light pepper towards the end as this finishes dry and spicy, but somewhat fruity with a subtle Belgian yeast note, a light earth and pine, and a lightly sweetened grainy pale malt. Light-medium bitterness before leaving a medium length aftertaste. Light, clean, easy drinking body with a somewhat crisp, moderate carbonation. Overall, a decent BPA. Really nice aroma and an enjoyable flavor. I like how the Belgian yeast doesn’t dominate. Finishes a bit quick, but not bad.
