COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Batch #100 is one seriously hoppy triple pale ale! A beautiful burnt orange hue and a underlying caramel flavor to balance out the hop bitterness. Aromas of fresh cut tangerines and mango from citra and simcoe hops. The rest is up to your imagination.

old rate. This one was just off, super super boozy and malty, no hop essence.

Draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a pretty near transparent dark amber with some fiery orange notes, a big head that dissipates to a ring and laces small. Aromas are juicy fruity hops, lemons and grapefruit mesh with some peaches, really nice but the sweet malts to kick it up, caramel and toffee behind. Initial is heavy bodied, some floral and citrusy grapefruit hops mix into a big malt presence, sweet toffee and caramel combat, sweet grains are a little overwhelming, a touch of corn. Perhaps they made this too big.. Meh.. A sweet and bitter combatative finish. Not bad, but not good

UPDATED: JUL 9, 2013 Draft, pours golden with white head. Aroma had a big grapefruity hop kick which is quickly met by sweet caramel and corn sugar. Flavors are sweet with a rather dirty fermentation with fusels, banana, and slight earthy vegetal thing happening. Thereís an attempt a balance with some heavy hoppy adding grapefruit and Clementine notes but the overwhelming cotton candy sweetness, booze, and poor fermentation runs strong (seems to be a consistent theme with the high gravity stuff here).

On tap at Revolution...A dark clear copper pour with some nice tope head, ok retention but good lacing...Good god this smells awesome!!! A floral/grassy mixture on the front, but a great sweet base of caramel with hops, a little alcohol, reminds me of a light sweet dipa...The taste is equally outstanding its grassy almost like a daisy cutter but the sweetness brings so much to the table and makes it so drinkable. Hops are more an accent and present bitterly on the finish. No alcohol at all on nose or taste, insanely drinkable at 9.6%. This is awesome and you should rush to get some.

Draft at Revbrew. Pours a deep red with dissipating head. Nose is awesome and I love how much they use citra hops. Big apricot and mango notes. Some booze with bread in the background. On first sip, this is way closer to a barleywine than an IIPA, but Iíll take it. Huge and slick mouthfeel. Full bodied but not particularly sweet. There is some tang from the citrusy hops, but the booze shows up. One of the best boost beers Iíve had in a long time, but it isnít as good as thee destroyer. Still, definitely a better barleywine than institutionalized...

UPDATED: JAN 8, 2011 Taster pour as well as a full snifter at revbrew on the day of itís released so very fresh sample... Pours a holistically transparent orangey amber hue with a medium frothy just off of white head and quickly retreats to a thin soapy film... A burst of juicy tangerines, mango, and grapefruit on the nose.... If we were talking hoops, count the flavors as an and-1 as it represents a continuation of the nose with vibrant and vivid tropical fruit hoppy goodness and a touch bit more. Thereís a general sweetness mid to late palate that I usually attribute with a citra-hopped ipa or dipa for that matter and this one doesnít deviate. Perhaps its the crystal malt thatís responsible? A semi-assertive, yet not overtly so bitterness emerges late and lingers on the palate which is an aspect that Thee Destroyer did not provide as much of. Body is medium to lightly syrupy with medium semi-lively carbonation. The sweetness and syrupy mouthfeel start to get in the way and could use a bit more dryness but I digress... I give this a notch up on thee destroyer which was my favorite to date but by just barely. This is pretty big and bold... And quite good from one who is a big advocate of citra hops.

on second helpings, body and mouthfeel seem a bit more syrupy and sweet more so than what was originally experienced. nose was appealling still but flavor/mouthfeel were left lacking otherwise.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear, deep burnt orange-amber colored body with a finger-width, dense, creamy, very frothy, khaki head that dissipates slowly and leaves plenty of lacing. Gorgeous looking beer. Aroma is filled with fresh piney grapefruits and tangerines with some sweeter resins. Nice caramel backing with a moderate sweetness, some mango and tropical fruits, and I get just a touch of lemon-grass behind everything as this warms more. Flavor is similar. Tons of juicy grapefruits and sweeter tangerines up front with a lightly sweetened caramel that provides just enough of a balance. More mangos and tropical fruits along with pines, a touch of citrus-grass, and a bit of a crystal malt sweetness. Finishes dry with a huge splash of juicy citrus pines and a light balancing malt sweetness. Medium bitterness before leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Medium, clean body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, another very flavorful DIPA from these guys. Tons of juicy citruses, but never over-the-top or abrasively bitter. Aggressive, but well balanced. Very solid.

Pours orange with an off white head. Aroma of citrus hops that dominate in the flavor as well. Sweet, but the ABV is well hidden. Nice balance of the caramel and citrus hops.

Gold slightly orange pour. Slight citrius, orange tangerine hops. Does not taste as strong as it claims.
