Enjoyed on tap at Revolution Brewery in Chicago, IL while getting some brunch with good friends. I didnít take tasting notes, but remember this being a solid, easy drinking dark lager with a light smoke, creamy off white head, and light bitterness. Would have again!

Location: Draft at the Milwaukee Ave Brewpub, 7/16/14

Aroma: The nose is roasted and dark malts, fruity notes, and some light earthy hop
Appearance: It pours a dark brown-black color with a beige colored head on it
Flavor: Similar flavor, roasty malts, some light sweetness, and a ligth hop bitterness as well
Palate: The body is fairly light, leaning medium, with a solid feel, and a dryish finish
Overall Impression: This was a nice, solid example of the style. It didnít blow me away or anything, but I enjoyed it and would have happily drank another if they didnít have so many great house beers on tap!

On tap at the Kedzie Taproom, and served to a tall pilsener glass, showing a nearly opaque, darkest brown color, with some ruby highlighting, a fair layer of off white/light tan head foam, and light lacing. The nose was well roasted & cocoa, with a distinct scent of burnt toast & caramel. Light to medium bodied, with soft carbonation, and a somewhat light mouthfeel, the taste retained the roastiness, some of the caramel sweetness, and presented a moderate, earthy hop bitterness that exuded a pleasant dryness at the finish. Quite drinkable.

On tap @ Revolution. Black in color with a khaki head. Coffee, roasted malt, and cacao on the nose. Hints of toffee, licorice, and ash. Some earthy hops as well. Good toffee sweetness on the palate. Lots of coffee, roasted malt, and dark chocolate. Some bitter ash and licorice, as well as earthy, leafy hops.

Pours very darj red-black with small off white head. Aroma has coffee grounds, raisins, smokey. Flavors have some astringent coffee grounds, smokey grain, dark fruit, touch molasses. Med body. Pretty good take on the style, seems a tad astringent with dark malts. Enjoyed at first but became a bit much hard to on the palate.

this poured a medium to dark brown color with a beige head. Aroma was of lightly roasted malts, and earthy herbal hops. Flavor was a bit off and astringent, with mild roast, some caramel, and grassy Hops. Ok.

Tap. Poured dark brown color with medium brown creamy off-white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Medium roasted dark malty and hop aroma. Medium body with a dry texture and soft carbonation. Medium flavor of roasted malt bittersweet with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Interesting solid brew.
