COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Is a "not so small" beer brewed using the 2nd runnings of wort after collecting the super concentrated liquid to brew the Hugene. Light in body, dark in color, roasty malt and spicy hop aroma.

Tap at Revolution Brewpub, Chicago - 04/11/12. Very dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head, good lacing ensues. Light roast malt nose with molasses, liqourice and a touch of smoke. Tastes of roast malt, treacle toffee, chocolate, smoke. Medium bodied with soft carbonation lending towards a roasty finish. Above average porter.

Sample at the brewpub. This beer pours a dark brown color with a medium tan head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Light-bodied with a roasty character and notes of burnt malt, dark chocolate and mild hops. The finish is lightly bitter with a dark chocolate aftertaste. Decent overall.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear deep brown with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has some light roasted malts with a dark grain backing. Flavor starts with light roasted malts and is backed by dark sweet grain and a hint of dryness.

Draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Some errands. Pours a blackish hue in this dark bar. I see brownish edges that show some ruby brown light, a small frothy tannish head sits atop and laces ok, a thicker ring atop. As it catches more light I get some overdone suntea essences. Aromas are gentle roast and toast, decent dry earthy and piney hops move into citrus, gentle dark fruit, good coffee and earthy roast on the nose mixes with that sufficient hoppping. Dry yet some mellow sweetness beneath. Initial is lighter bodied, offering some toast, roast, and dry earthy hops up front. A dry bitter start, lingering with pine, florals, and roasty earthy malts. Middle is dry yet firm, lighter bodied and quite "pound"-able. Touches of cocoa and biscuits into the back, some mellow cocoa and roast coffee linger, itís not strong but with the light overall feel of the beer it does itís work. Roasty, dry hops, some touches of earth, nuts, ash, and earthy coffee linger with a decent dry hopping. Itís simple, itís small, itís pretty drinkable and I could certainly drink a lot of it. Sweetness is mellow, but does give a layer. Touches of orange and grapefruit dance in and out up front as it warms, the hopping becoming a little more life filled. I liked this. Smell is pretty light, barely get much off it. But taste and overall palate/mouthfeel work. Wins extra points overall for drinkability and the fact it worked well for me as an experience. Excited to try the growler of HAís small dark beer in the next couple days to compare. Probably more lame than Iím letting on.. But I really dig beers like this. With an actual aroma, it could be a nice.

This poured a dark brown color with a beige head. Aroma was light ot medium roasted malts, some dark candy sugar, and light brown sugar. Flavor was a bit bland and water, althoguh refined and well put together. Would make a pretty decent session porter.
