2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 madmitch76 (9832) - , Essex, ENGLAND - MAY 11, 2013
29th April 2013 Craft Clerkenwell. Clear amber beer, no real head. Palate is light with very moderate carbonation. Mild dry malt - light caramel. A little tangy dried fruits. Semi dry finish. Mmmmm. When I think back to 1978 and what a great single Identity was - this is a remarkably flaccid tribute! It really falls short of the brashness and inventiveness of the band. Perhaps I’m expecting too much.

500ml bottle - nice deep ruby body, thick white lasting head. Good malty aroma, hefty kick of dried fruit there too. The taste has a well rounded cake fruit taste to it, with a nice bitter finish. It has a meaty mouthfeel to it too. Quite impressed with this. New entry into my Top 20 ESB Hit Parade!

500ml. Chestnut with a loose but persistent beige foam. Allsorts and muscovado aroma. Fine malty brew with a sweet muscovado-sprinkled fig vibe. Slightly warm, oaky finish with hints of roast and prune. Silky like a dubbel. Pretty seductive, brown-sugared winter sipper.
