Craft Clerkenwell. Clear amber beer, no real head. Palate is light with very moderate carbonation. Mild dry malt - light caramel. A little tangy dried fruits. Semi dry finish. Mmmmm. When I think back to 1978 and what a great single Identity was - this is a remarkably flaccid tribute! It really falls short of the brashness and inventiveness of the band. Perhaps I’m expecting too much.

Bottle from Theatre of Wine, Greenwich. Deep red/brown pour with a beige head. Raisin, orchard fruit and bonfire toffee aroma. Flavours of toffee apple, sultanas and sweet spice. Malt laden finish. Not bad.

500ml bottle - nice deep ruby body, thick white lasting head. Good malty aroma, hefty kick of dried fruit there too. The taste has a well rounded cake fruit taste to it, with a nice bitter finish. It has a meaty mouthfeel to it too. Quite impressed with this. New entry into my Top 20 ESB Hit Parade!

Bottle from Beer Ritz, Leeds. Red tinged pour with a tight white crown. Sweetish nose with some summer fruit evident. Flavour was similarly sweet with brown sugar, cherry and coffee notes. Dryish finish. Solid offering.

500ml. Chestnut with a loose but persistent beige foam. Allsorts and muscovado aroma. Fine malty brew with a sweet muscovado-sprinkled fig vibe. Slightly warm, oaky finish with hints of roast and prune. Silky like a dubbel. Pretty seductive, brown-sugared winter sipper.
