2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 FatPhil (7515) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - OCT 21, 2012
500ml bottle (?, Tallin) - gift from Marduk - thanks!
Orangy read, brief fizzy head. Slightly herbal aroma, maybe a little cactussy. Simple bready body, slightly caramelly, not so big, just a touch of the less sweet side of barley grains (but not husky at all). Slightly watery palate, refreshing carbonation. Easy drinker. Finish a little bit roastier than the taste, and with a soft herbal hoppy bitterness. Late finish is a little fatty, and with more tangy bitterness, does seem like wild local hops rather than imported czech/german typical ones. A touch dead, despite it being unpasteurised and therefore live. Interesting, and a little quirky, but a pretty passable darkish amber lager, shame about it being a bit dead.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Marduk (1266) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - OCT 20, 2012
500ml bottle. Watery copper color. Small off-white head appears. Thistle, caramel, insect poison in aroma. Watery, faint caramel in flavor. Very bland, watery and slick. Not sure what it is. Centipede poison in afterburps.
As it warms up some roasted notes in flavor.
