COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Franz is our Oktoberfest beer. He’s an autumnal brew, a bit of a dreamer, often hikes in the Alps and comes back with great ideas for delicious malts and is forever hoisting barrels over his head for ’ze exercize’. Franz is our Oktoberfest brau, and our first take on a German brew. Not traditional, but über German. These malts will PUMP you UP, jaaah!

Draft: Hazy, brown-amber with a short white head. Woody, caramel malt scent. Taste is slightly lactic caramel bitter.... Clingy aftertaste.

Draft at Dutch’s. Pours a clear amber color with a medium sized creamy off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, caramel, lightly toasted, biscuits, mild bitterness, decent straight forward Octoberfest.

Strong presence of Munich malts, caramel and toffee sweetness play. Lots of stale bread are present. Very light

Draft at the brewery. Pours a semi-clear orange with a small white head. The aroma seems to be right on style- caramel and Munich malts, a bit of spice from the hops, a hint of toasty and grassy character. Flavor is the same- sweet, toasty, and malty, with grass, cracker, and mild spice. Light-bodied, with a dry, malty mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Nice Oktoberfest.

Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Looks good for the style; a transparent light brownish orange with off-white lacing. Smells of dough, malt, and lager yeast. Tastes like it smells with an average (slightly tart) mouthfeel. Alright.

On tap. Clear orange amber color. Thin off-white head. Decent reaches and bits of lace. Good caramel malt, light pepper, earthy spicy hops in the aroma, some orange citrus. Smooth, crisp lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Medium body. A great, hoppy oktoberfest. Has just enough hop bite to keep it interesting, I don’t get a sweet malt / lager fatigue here halfway through the pint like I do with many other oktoberfests. This actually has a nice moderate bitter taste, with a relatively lighter sweetness. Tasty, enjoyable, drinkable oktoberfest.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2013 Draft. Poured clear brownish copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.
