COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle (aka "Knirpel") Big rocky beige head, amber coloured; dark malt, alcohol and a tinge of roasted malt in the nose, combined with a certain fruitiness; solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium to full bodied; dried fruits, roasted malt and alcohol in the sweetish finish. Not exciting, but quite O.K. .........

(33cl bottle, also known as “Knirpel”) Clear, mahogany colour with a light-beige and short foamy head. Sweet and moderately molassy toasted malty aroma with caramel. Sweet flavour, full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Dark and toasty malt-character with notes of caramel, molasses and cacao. Sweet and shy bitter, malt-accented, moderately toasted finish with a a tinge of bitter hops. Sweet but likeable Doppelbock (20.II.09).

Deep amber pour. The nose is oddly dirty with a kiss of sweet doughy malts. A hint of chocolate and toast as well as a bit of molasses. Sweet with a touch of odd herbal sweetness and a lingering herbal character on the back. I do like it, even though there are a few technical issues with it.

Bottle at Paul’s place for Kan’s visit. Pours a clean burnt sugar colored brown with a thin white head. Caramel, burnt sugar, honey. Tons of sweetness. Cloying smells. Medium bodied, a bit empty. Empty caramel and sugar. Finishes lightly bitter. Way too sweet and empty.
