opaque dark amber, solid cream head, touch of lace, rich carmel malt aroma with good earthy hops, creamy body, big malt flavor, good carmel sweetness balanced by lots of bitterness, hot alcohol, a bit of fruity character that would come out better after a year or two, brewed last September,

Aroma is rich, sweet and caramely with lots of toffee complexity. Body starts sweet and viscous with some light fruity complexity and lots of alcoholic notes. A decent English-style barleywine, but could hide the alcohol much better. BückDich (4856), McCall, Idaho, USA

Ruby, nice head and lacing. Nose of sweet caramel and molasses. The flavor is sweet. Nice hop balance along with the grassy herbal finish. Nice. No idea what this was when I had it. Ha. argo0 (7047), Washington DC, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 23, 2006 Sampled at RBSG 2006- Grand Tasting. Beer pours a dark orange with a huge off-white head. Fruity raisins and plums, but some serious malt sweetness to the nose. Flavor is a huge surprise in that this feels silky smooth. Where do they hide the alcohol? A great drinkable barleywine that conceals its complexities. Dangerous to the untrained imbiber. TheBeerGod (3177), Newport News, Virginia, USA

Taste is mucht he same, lots of fruit notes, sweet malts, caramel, and lots of hops. Body is lighter than most barleywines, but slick. Finishes with more hop notes, sweet amlts, fruits and caramel. Pretty standard BW. pintocb (520), Darsville, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 19, 2006 Out of a growler brought back from RBSG06...thanks Jacob. Opaque amber/red in the glass. Lots of fruity aroma with some hoppiness. It fills the mouth well, not too thick not too thin. The flavor had some carame and toffee with some apple flavor mixed in at first then became a little bitter in the finish.
