My girlfriend brought me this back from Somerset, she got it from the cider farm, Taste is musty and barnyard like, appearance is still and cloudy, palate is of a farm. An aquired taste, I don’t mind it, can make your breath stink

Polypin from Rich’s Cider. Golden with a light haze. Aromas are ripe juicy apple with woody, barnyard notes. Floral honey with citrus and vinegar. Flavours are sweet apple juice with apple skin. Some yeast spritz with oak woodiness. Dry and lightly musty to finish. A nice easy drinker.

Polypin, room temperature @ The Plough Inn, Taunton, Somerset.
Muddy, dull orange-amber body and still with a little apple pulp floating about. The nose holds wads of chunky fell fruit, peel, apple seeds, damp wooden barrels, hessian, vanilla and chamomile tea, groovy! Sweetish, full and plump in the mouth, quite hairy in back with traces of vanillin and more damp wood. Fruit flavour is oh so nice, ripe and penetrating. Traces of lychee and pear amongst so much apple, the linger is incredibly long, tangy and tight, woody notes and just a little earth builds. This is a great cider. Not the most complex, but surprisingly fresh and raw. This is a real Scrumpy from its appearance through to its poise on the palate. Great session stuff!!!

Bought at the farm-house. A murky cider ,which resembled pond water ....the aroma had the very plesant ’farm-house’ texture...rustic with apple flesh and haystacks. Flavas where a bit cheesey and lightly sweet and pretty dry . Pretty plesant.

A hazy golden cider. The aroma has strong notes of apples. The flavor is sweet and acidic with notes of apple cores, leading to a tart but still sweet finish.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2009 Polypin at the Orchard, Bristol, 08/05/09. Gold with no head or carbonation. Contrasted between tart apple fruit and an underlying taste of sugar/stewed apples. As the Orchard also sells the sweet and dry versions, I suspect this may have been a ’half and half’. Ok.

A Mes rate. Cask at the Marble Arch Inn. More on the sweet side of medium. Slight egg on the nose. Tarty and sugary with a with a lingering red apple finish. Fairly dull but inoffensive and drinkable.

A cloudy, pale yellow coloured cider with a slight fizz. A sour, vinegary fruit nose, then a touch sweet. A sour appley taste, vinegary and a bit musty, but then a sweetish fruit flavour comes through in the finish. (Cask - The Fox & Hounds, Heacham, Norfolk).

Real Cider from plastic barrel at Banbury Beer Fest 07. Hazy yellow orange with no head. Fruity, dry fleshy apple with a bit of natural condition. Tangy dry finish.
