2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 guil0000 (173) - - OCT 23, 2009
Very disappointing. flat in taste and aroma. Pretty nice looking dark brown with a thick white head. Definitely not one of my favorite porters
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 gilvanblight (544) - Windsor, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 11, 2012
Before even pouring this I have to admit I’m not expecting much. Sure for a Canadian Macro Brew Rickard’s is very drinkable. Better then the Blues and Canadians, but definitely not ’good’ beer. Very very dark red pour with a light tan head. Hoppy and slightly spicy scent. Spicy like cinnamon or nutmeg. Not bad, not bad at all. Low carbonation. Malty and sweet. A touch watery but much better than I expected. Still no world class porter here but very drinkable. I would buy a case of this.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 cards04 (171) - Manitoba, CANADA - FEB 3, 2012
Pours the color of Cola, with a little light penetration, a bit of off white head. On the nose there is the slightest hint of dried fruit. Diddo on the palate with a touch of coffee. I enjoyed this beer, and would drink it again - just wish there was more complexity to it..
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 reebtogi (1575) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 27, 2012
341ml bottle pours brown in color with a finger of off-white head that leaves a few spots of lacing. Aroma is light roasted malts and mild chocolate. Taste is light roasty bitterness with faint hop bitterness and enough malty sweetness to balance things out a bit. This is definitely one of the better macro brews from Molson’s. I almost enjoyed it, which is quite a compliment to Molson’s.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 glennmastrange (1547) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - JAN 20, 2012
Tap. Light to moderate toasted for the malt, light herbs for the hops with a hint of cardboard and dustiness. Head is small, fizzy, off-white with no lacing and is almost fully diminishing. Color is sparkling clear dark brown. Flavor is lightly sweet and acidic to start and lightly acidic in the short finish. Palate is light to medium, watery with a lively carbonation. An okay dark beer to have at a steakhouse that really should have better offerings (The Keg, Montreal), but this is no Porter.
3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 VincentL (121) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 18, 2011
Note faites de mémoire six heures plus tard.
A : Beau col! Faut dire que je l’ai eu en fût. 1.75
Odeur : Bonne odeur d’érable 4/5
G : Pas mal!
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 JoeMcPhee (6835) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 5, 2011
Deep brown pour with a tight fading brown head. The aroma has a fairly nice chocolately character. Cocoa and milk chocolate along with some other malt character. There is a little bit of sweetness. The palate is a little bit chalky and prickly. There is a touch of hoppiness but it’s a bit restrained. Decent enough brew actually.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 BelgianBeerGal (2105) - Dayton Area, Ohio, USA - SEP 22, 2011
Tallboy can in St Catharines. Remind me never to complain about US liquor/beer laws again after visiting the Canadian, Soviet-style stores. Anyway about the beer: better than average but nothing amazing. Relatively thin for a porter and I wish the maple syrup was more than "a hint."
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20 hopdog (6943) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 19, 2011
On tap. Poured a brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas and tastes of roast and caramel...not much else.
