1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
I was roaming the neighbourhood looking for a bar in which to watch the Canucks game on satellite. With a Leafs game on at the same time, this was easier said than done. On the 8th try, I found one. It wasn’t a good bar – the food didn’t even look good on the menu let alone in the flesh. The service, I should say, was quite efficient. The beer list was abysmal, but offered one new beer for me – Rickard’s Honey Brown. Somehow, this actually manages to look like beer – golden brown, relaxed carbonation. Doesn’t have an aroma, which is probably beneficial. No taste, again probably beneficial. Vaguely sweet, lacking in the sour hop notes Molson is famous for. Zero malt, maybe some dms, watery palate, no finish. Empty, empty, empty. Worse yet, in the mirror on the wall behind the TV I was watching the game on, I could see the bar across the street – the Granite Brewery.

Conitnuing to clean up the fridge! Evil Hog Town Harry sent me this. HAHAHA! A reddish copper ale with a thick creamy off white head. A light cream corn aroma with no honey. In mouth, a caramel concoction which is sickly sweet, very light hops, and nothig much else really. Into the ham pot it will go. It wont go to waste. Any beer is fine with beer cooked ham, really.

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Dark amber-brown colour and a thick white head and some thin lace. Brown sugar and slightly metallic aroma with some hoppiness apparent. Some floral aromas are apparent as well. Not very well balanced.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: JAN 7, 2007 Step 1 in my campaign to go for a month of only paying for beers I haven’t rated. (Step 2 was a whiskey sour)Possibly one of the top 10 Molson products? Maybe. Slightly sweet maltiness but not a whole whack of anything. Quenched my thirst well enought. Decent head and lacing on it surprisingly.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Had on tap at Firkins, had neat amber look, with medium size head. Yeasty aroma, slightly sweet. Very drinkable, creamy good mid and aftertaste. A bit bready, a bit bitter mixed with sweet elements.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: OCT 30, 2003 Dark amber body with average carbonation and head. Sweet smell of malt, nuts, water. Very sweet in mouth, kinda all malt. While uninteresting, it's my favorite Rickard's product.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle (341ml). Poured slightly cloudy copper-orange with a good foamy fairly lasting light brown head, nice lacing too. Not much aroma - sort of roasty malt, perhaps honey, I can’t say definitively - not unpleasant, not vegetal, only slightly metallic, so there is that to say about it. Taste is fizzy, slightly metallic generic light roast malt, some honey and burnt sugar, it may have been shown a photo of some hops once. Average, the metal gets harsher on warming, and the "brown" seems likely to be food colouring, there’s not much roast malt here.

This was the second pint we had before boarding the plane to Mexico. Nut brown colour, again served at just above freezing, aromas of sweet malt barely there. Flavour is sweeter than the red, but again any character was muted by the temperature. Decent enough.
