2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Rickard’s India Pale Ale (what is actually on the label) is probably the silliest name for a beer that I’ve tried since I had Samuel Adams Cranberry Lambic. It looks nice, a deep golden body topped with a fluffy head. This has a weak aroma, maybe some malt, a squirt of lemon. It has the crisp mouthfeel of a German Pilsener. The flavor is faint, some seltzer water with a touch of sweet pale malts. Not much of a Golden Ale, and certainly nothing of an IPA.

I tried this beer on July 23, 2007 at ’Hard Rock Cafe - Rogers Centre (SkyDome)’ in Toronto. The beer was a very pale yellow colour with an ample head that died quickly, but left traces on the side of the glass. There was very little aroma of note, what aroma there was...was weak and hard to identify. The mouthfeel was crisp, slightly thin-bodied, with some hints of mild carbonation. The taste was very watered down as well. Not something I would order again. I have to admit, the thin crisp mouthfeel and watery taste would make this beer go down very easy which would make it a great beer for University students wanting to get drunk on something other than Blue or Canadian

Deep golden under a large white head that falls rockily in eggwhite peaks. Low carbonation. Faint milk & lemon aroma. Creamy mouth. Flavor starts lemony with a bit of yeastiness. Pale malts. Sweetness, not bitterness. OK for a golden ale, but labeling this an IPA is a joke.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2008 [283-20070503] Tap @ Owl&Firkin (Markham, ON). Grainy yeast aroma. Clear, yellow orange body with big slow bubbles, a medium-lasting white bubbly head and some "thick" lacing. Tastes like grainy old grapes. Light-medium body with some astringency. Repeatable but would go for others first. (4/4/4/3/8) 2.3
[1008B-20071229] Tap @ Duchess of Markham (Markham, ON). Corn aroma has a bit of skunky grain. Clear, orange brown body with a long-lasting creamy white head. Corn continues in flavour with a sweet hay yeast starch. Medium body is water. Not great. (4/4/5/2/9) 2.4

C’est inscrit IPA sur l’étiquette... Robe blonde très claire surmontée d’une mousse blanche en dentelle qui s’estompe. Arômes légers. Saveurs de blé et de levure fruitée.

I’ve had this beer, bottle and draught. Better on draught obviously as usual. Nothing special, certainly not a pale ale, as advertised.......I honestly wouldn’t even classify this as an ale. I wouldnt say it’s as bad as what some people on here are saying.......but I wouldnt say it’s good either. I like rickards red better.

tap in canada...why? I don’t know...Maybe because there was nothing else with the word "ale" in it. Absolutely terrible. Please don’t be fooled by the fact that you have never heard of this brand...You have...It’s Molson.

Bottled. Fresh hoppy aroma, pours with a golden hue and light frothy head. A fairly watery taste, only a very small hint of hops and some chemical notes in the finish. This is certainly NOT an authentic IPA.
