Sugary caramel aroma that seems somewhat bland. Hearty chestnut color, which may be enhanced by additive. Taste is a simple but effective sweet malt with very minor hopping. Body is too light for the look, although the bite is greater than most of these dark lagers. Needs more of all its base characteristics.

Somewhat red. Somewhat malty. Somwhat hoppy. Somewhat beery. I’ve had worse but I’ve certainly had better.

Tried this rather mediocre beer in Toronto during March Madness in 2013. The beer wasn’t very good. Reddish brown in appearance, slightly caramel in flavor, and left just as stale an aftertaste in my mouth as the basketball game.

For a mass produced beer it might be a notch ahead of your average mass produced beers. However still not much taste to it, the colour makes it look like it might be a decent beer and then you drink it and realize it is rather bland. Don’t buy it if you looking for a good full taste beer. If at a pub and big mass produced beers on tap are the only option and Rickards is a choice, well then it is probably the better choice.

Pours a deep reddish copper with a big foamy head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of malts, caramel and toffee. Taste is sweet malts, caramel and some faint earthy hops. Decent for molson but overall too thin.

Had on tap at a restaurant when they told me they didn’t offer stout. Drinkable, not very exciting. Certainly not a dark lager. Glass was uneven red, blonde in the thinner sections of the glass. Taste was not memorable.
High alcohol percentage, good value in that respect.

Boring Molson product, but not nearly as shitty as most of their products.

It’s hard to make a beer any worse than this stuff... I think they used to serve this stuff in town for $2 a pint. It’s not even worth that much. Artificial taste.

Courtesy Nate. Red with eggshell head, 1 finger, good lacing. Nose of caramel, sweet butter. Mild fruit, some caramel, with a touch of hop crispness.
