On draft at some restaurant in Montreal. First and last Rickards I will ever taste. It was so nasty that there is no way you’ll get me tasting any of the other Rickard styles. Ever. No.

Bottle offered by some dude at a social event. Pours a dull red with a medium white head with great retention and big lacing. Aroma of faint hops and hay. Taste is lightly sweet and ever so lightly hoppy (some noble hops character) and not really bitter. Body is light and mouthfeel is thin. Overall: not too bad but pretty boring... On the "macrobrewery scale" it would score around average in my book.

On tap. Ruby brown with a fast disappearing head. Aroma of sweet malts. Flavour is just a little flat and more malt and slightly bitter. Meh.

473 mL can. Pours an amber red with a modest head that disappears fairly quickly. Nothing distinctive on the palate, a modest finish with some bitterness. Overall, an unimpressive beer, not one that I would choose, however it's not bad given it's from a macro brewery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This was a tough beer to rate in that, it is much more unpleasant on draft than it is in a bottle or can. It is one of the must awful tasting beers I have ever had on draft, yet in a bottle, I can handle it. It has quite a nice appearance, decent head solid dark red color. The taste is a bit tart, not overly smooth, but it can be stomached if you try.

On draft in Toronto. Fairly tame red. Taste is grain, caramel and watered down hay. Average.

Pours amber with a creamy head. Aroma is of butterscotch, caramel malt, light toast. Taste is of caramel malt up front, with a medium-light body that leads to an herbal finish with light bitterness. I think this loses points with people for being from a macro...

Deep golden color, white head. Flowery hops that turn into heavy maltiness towards the finish. Medium body, medium carbonation. Not bad.
