Mild scent of malt and hops. Dark, clear, amber colour. Slight flavour of malt, iced-tea, and red wine. Slight bitterness on the finish Medium body with mild carbonation. Nothing terribly interesting.

Before working in the brewery I do now, I used to work retail at a craft brewery and would frequently have customers coming in asking "what tastes like ______" and the unparalleled beer of comparison was Rickard’s Red. Finally decided to grab one- tastes like a standard vienna lager. quite English influenced with a lot of malt characteristics coming through, smells like the grain at the brewery before it is even malted. Real raw and malty, I am quite a fan. Body is quite thin. and a very minimal hop presence is around. A better beer in my least favorite style.

On tap at Boston Pizza, Williams Lake, BC. This was poured into a pilsener glass. The appearance was a hazy burnt red with a slight transparency about it. The head was slim and centered in the middle as a little lump. Decent looking rings graced the glass as the beer goes down. The smell had a nice sweet to roasty blend of caramel malts with nuts. The taste copied the smell. A light sweet nutty aftertaste lead to a sweet wet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Nicely carbonated and a remaining smooth feel rolls over my tongue. Overall, for the style this works. I’d have it again.

12oz Can, dark red. 1 finger dark yellow head. Aroma is sweet, like cream corn and some weird pickle aroma, lots of burnt malt. Pretty smooth taste, cherry, old fruit, malts, etc. it’s a stange brew. unexciting but not awful.

16.02.2015. On tap at Hard Rock Cafe, Toronto, Canada. Amber reddish colour that really shines. White head. Soft malty aromas. Very soft nice biterness. Not to much hops, but there is a nice flavour of darker malts. Soft sweetness. Aftertaste is more soft malts. Leaves a velvet mouthfeel.

341 ml bottle from a sampler twelve-pack from Sobeys Liquor, served in a two-tiered flute glass. Pours a reddish/coppery amber with light carbonation and a fine, milky head with abundant webs of lace. Aroma is sweet and toasty malt and dark fruit; flavor is sweet with red berries and caramel on top of the malt toast. Slightly thicker than ordinary lager, and with a creamy texture. RR has been a guilty pleasure since I first had a 26-ounce draft mug at Tony Roma’s (a chain restaurant noted for their ribs)...unfortunately, my notes from that afternoon were lost, and so I’m reviewing the bottled product. That mug seems better, but that, of course, might be due to draft bias. It’s not as richly full-flavored as other favorite reds, but it hits my spot nicely.

Pours a clear copper topped by two finger of frothy white head showing minimal retention. The nose is roasted malts and some grassy hops. The taste is roasted and nutty malts paired with the same grassy hops followed by an abrupt dry finish. Casual beer with nice roasted features. I often recommend this as a ’’starter’’ for rookies who want to get familiar with red lagers or ales.

Tap at Boston Pizza, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Light brown color, small head. Caramel aroma. Taste is semi sweet and malty. No real hops were used in the making of this garbage.

Desperation draft at a restaurant that had nothing else. Clear golden color, medium white head. Aroma of papery bread. Taste is light caramel and lemon.

A standard beer in Canada and used to be one of my standard drinking beers. However it has lost its taste and complexity when it was bought by Molson. Now it is not very good. I often find the aroma to be musty and the taste is now almost a burnt nut taste with little complexity. Sad to see a decent beer go by the way side.

Clear medium dark copper brown with minimal off white head. Grainy with the subtlest hint of caramel malt. More or less a pale macro lager.
