Sample at Barley and Malt in Hamburg. Smell of caramel, also toasted. Toasted taste, light roasted, caramel and something that made me think of spicy bread. A bit rough though.

Bottle from the brewpub. Hazy brown with a lasting beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, light grainy and light nutty. Flavor is quite sweet and light bitter. Sweet finish. 140315

12th Dec 2014: on tap in Galopper des Jahres, Hamburg. Poured a murky dark brown with a full tanned head. Aroma of semi-sweet maltiness with both woody and nutty notes along with a mini-sour trace. The taste aldo led by the malts, again semi-sweet with a mild wood and nutty flavour, hints of chocolate, still a sourness in the brew, even though the finish was sweet rather than dry and bitter like some beers in this style. Decent body depth and overall a fine beer.

Kita (1834) - Koper, SLOVENIA - NOV 26, 2014
On tap at Barley & Malt, Hamburg. Cloudy ruby brown color with medium creamy light brown head and good lacing. Aroma of caramel, toasted malt, burnt sugar, pumpkin seed and nuts. Tastes of sweet caramel, nuts and honey with medium bitter finish. Medium body, creamy texture and average carbonation in palate. Strung nutty sweetness bothers me...

Camons (9814) - Hasselager, DENMARK - NOV 3, 2014
Draught @ Brauhaus Joh. Albrecht, Hamburg. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of malt, wood, nuts, light butter, sourness, yougurt. Flavor is malty, wood, light chocolate, caramel, just a very light sourness. No butter or yougurt. Medium body, soft carbonation, sweet finish. Hard to put your nose to, but tastes quite decent. 311014

50cl fliptop bb10/04/2014, partially sampled 10 days later. I also like the no-nonsense "archival" design of the Ricklinger labels... Pours an enticing red-tainted brown with lively, beigish head. Nose is bread crust and slightly sweaty feet. First sip makes it clear what previous raters (who probably also bought the past-bb date bottles at bierpost?) noticed: this one goes sour very easily. What survives beneath the near-vinegar acidity is a plethora of now disbanded pleasant notes: spicy hops and more darkbrown bread crust, indeed Sauerkraut/dairy sourness and a rather bitter finish. Yet very interesting as an involuntary sour. Like a drunken marching band whose the members cannot keep in the key of the agreed-upon tune because they are puking at separate corners in the street. (Giving this the benefit of the doubt for future, fresher occasions but stopped this particular tune in its tracks after 3 good sips. The stomache, unlike the mouth, is not a house party to which everyone drunken marching band is invited and everyone’s screaming "Slightly sour, still kinda good!".)
