2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Thank you Jeverszeuge! It’s a red mahogany coloured beer with a dense, creamy head. The aroma has notes of malt and a little bit of nuts. The flavour is initially sour, like in infected, with a vinegar touch. But then i becomes sweet with notes of malt and nuts. Sadly the start spoils the overall impression, I’m pretty sure this could have been a quite tasty dunkel.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled, thanks jeverszeuge! Clear nut brown, rich beige head. Earthy malt aroma. Fairly sweet with soft mouthfeel and medium body. Fairly low on hops, restrained earthy malt flavours. Has a slight citric edge, probably from improper keeping so no points deducted. Low bitterness.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bügelverschlußflasche: Mahagony coloured, hazy, medium-sized off-white head, quickly collapsing; presumably infected: fruity-estery with traces of sour-mash, dark malt and caramel; moderate sweetish flavour, light bodied; caramelly fruity finish. No pleasure, deserves a second chance.....

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled. The label clearly said Dunkel but I could not detect any difference from the Marzen that I just had before this one. Except for the fact that this one stayed in the bottle. Does anyone? So: Aroma of apple and a hint of carrots. Some orange coming up when warming up. Hazy, orange/brown color, yellow irregular head, fair lace. Sweet, orange, light bitter, flat.

0.7 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
(on bottle) Massively infected; like smelling a mash gone totally to rot. Taste was nothing but sour apples and chewinggum gone carbonated.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(swing top bottle, with many thanks to Jevers Zeuge) Hazy, dark amber to copper colour with a mid-sized foamy beige head diminishing into a creamy layer. Dusty aroma of light-sweet toasted malt with fruity esters (red berries) and toffee. Light sweet flavour, a bit slim, medium carbonated mouthfeel. Slightly toasted malty and light fruity, yeasty taste; light bitter malty finish, toasty and yeasty aftertaste. Fairly drinkable but lacking ripeness.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: JUN 1, 2006 50 cl bottle. Cream coloured head. Hazy, red-brown colour. Sour smell of red fruits. Slightly perfumy. Flavour is likewise sour (I measured pH 3,8). Slightly roasted with some smokey bacon hints. Nicely balanced palate though.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy amber color. The perfumy aroma (with a light smokeyness) shows a light infection, not confirmed later. Malty body, pleasant light smokiness; sweet caramel. Low bitterness. Light, but pleasant.
