Pleasant, if somewhat unremarkable ale; clean taste, no aftertaste, but not strong enough to be a winter beer , seems much more suited to warmer weather. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at home, early hours of 01/01/14 - Xmas present from the inlaws and a new rate - cheers ! Clear golden with a moderate off white head that clears to a swirl and edgework. Nose is orange sherbet, light sugars, toasty malts, grassy, faint hop presence, orange marmalade. Taste is thinner, grass, light orange squash, bread dough, not unpleasant just not a whole lot going down! Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry finale with lingering grassy bitterness. Mediocre GB, no defects per say, just not a lot doing!

BlackHaddock (3912) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - DEC 8, 2013
Bottle: BBD Feb 14, poured into a UK pint sleeve on 8th Dec 13. Slight haze to my golden bodied brew, white head. The nose was of semi-sweet malty molasses with hints of mixed spices, the taste was similar to the aroma with malts leading a spicy centre. Although malty it was also fairly sharp and tangy in the mouth which in turn led to a dry mildly bitter finish. Body depth OK, never had the 6% version so can’t compare.

Bottled 28/11/13. A dark gold coloured beer with no head. Quite grassy. Not much in the way or hop or winteriness. There is a little spicy hint but not sure what that is. Late bitterness. Not very keen on this.

A slightly spicy, slightly bitter ale. Not overly exciting but it drinks pretty easily so I imagine it wouldn’t be bad for a wintertime session.

Draught @ You’ll Never Walk Alone in Kolding. Pours clear golden with small white head. Clear aroma of yeast, spices and dirt. Bitter and sour flavour of the hops of yesteryear and some spice of the days gone by. Bitter, slightly metallic aftertaste. Off?

Nose is butter scotch, cereal, some nice citrus notes. Taste is a little butter scotch leading to citrus hops and a refreshing grassy finish. Mouthfeel is slick and full. This beer describes itself as a winter ale, it is about as far away from what a winter beer should deliver as you can imagine. It’s not a bad beer for a warm day, but it’s marked down for failing on it’s own terms.
