Bottle round Mum and Dad’s after Xmas dinner, 01/01/12. Dusted brass, low white head. Decently juicy orange and polished pine needle aroma. Crystallised lemon, light flowery hop, trace of nuttiness/hazelnut sprinkled Connetto. Unwintery but decent for Ridgeway.

Bottle as Bad Elf Winter Ale from S H Jones & Co, Bicester as part of Ridgeway Christmas gift pack of 4 ’Elf’ beers. Pours a golden yellow with high white head. Dry grassy hop aroma with a hint of barnyard and white metal. Light, dry and bitter on the palate, little carbonation. Dry grassy slightly floral taste. Very high very bitter lemon hit then a very metallic but strangely delicious aftertaste. An interesting Golden Winter Ale.

Bottle from Nina’s. Pours a golden colour with a thick white head that dies away quickly. Aroma of grassy hops, caramel, barley and yeast. Musty flavour with some hay, barley, wet cardboard and grassy hops again. Quite bitter with mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. A dry finish and lingering corn and hay notes.
