50 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 24.09.2009
Aroma has licorice, well roasted malt and coffee notes. Flavour has pleasant roastiness, licorice and some dark chocolate. Finishes with ash, coffee notes and hints of cocoa. Some may find the malt here way too roasted, but I seem to enjoy even this level of roastiness. Palate could be more rich though.

Bottle that Justin shared - cheers! Dark reddish brown with a thin beige head. Roasted malt dominates with a little chocolate and smoke. OK stout, but rather thin and muted for the ABV.

Dark brown with red tinges and a small tan head. Chocolatey and slightly medicinal aroma with a hint of coffee. Fairly smooth taste with coffee, roasted malt and some plain chocolate notes. Not bad at all.

A bottle over a year past it’s best-by date. This is really quite nice. Soft in the mouth. Pitch black. Heavy roasting and low hoping. No real aroma. A beer for a dark cold night.

Bottle from Morrisson in Newport shared with McTapps. Classic and fine Stout with rye, some roasted malt and decent sourness towards the end. Nice one.
