3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours black with a beige head that not only was thin, but faded quickly as well. Aroma is a bit unusual for this style, being mostly earthy malts, along with toffee, licorice, and a little bit of raisin. Perhaps chocolate as well. As for the taste, I get a good deal of raisin and licorice. Lesser toffee elements. It really is more on the darker fruity side. It really tastes like juice instead of beer. It is more light in body despite the potency of this one. Thin in texture as well, with an aftertaste of raisin, licorice, and now I get some chocolate. Despite the deceiving palate, the alcohol comes out in this one. I donít think this one is bad. It just isnít what Iím looking for in a stout.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a deep red color with a fine white head. Aroma of mostly just of roasted malt with a hint of caramel. Taste of roasted malt, flat coffee, chocolate, caramel, spices, nuts, wood, dark fruits and a hint of chocolate. Very sweet and mild with a dry slightly bitter aftertaste - although that being said I donít really taste hops. Medium body and below medium carbonation. Not bad, but nothing too special either.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
This board with a small light brown head that didn't last, no lace and clear almost opaque garnet color. Aroma is roast malt molasses. Flavor is fairly dry carbonic tang stands out dominates some medicinal chocolate cocoa and is also like aroma. Body seems to be a tad on the thin side and is slightly over carbonated. Not one of my favorite Ridgeway beers.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Beers of Europe. Deep brown almost black, thin white foam. A very smooth beer, especially considering itís 8%. Smooth roastiness, some coffee and bitter malts, a certain degree of fruitiness, a slightly fruity herbal hoppiness. All very tasty really. With the soothing nature of the oats in there itís more of a strong oatmeal stout than a foreign extra but that doesnít really matter - itís very nice!

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml Bottle from Beers of Europe website:
Roasted malts & chocolate with hints of coffee. Some smoke around the middle and faint alcohol. The beer is rounded off with some light spice & sugar but its the toasted malts that dominates.
Black with a 0.5cm foamy head thatís light beige & slowly fades to a fine lacing on the surface before turnig patchy a minute later.
Spicy upfront with roasted malts & coffee that match the smell with some sugar & earthy flavours too. I could detect some chocolate & grain with hints of sweetness rounding things off.
Slightly spicy with some sweetness towards the end. Medium bodied, smooth & creamy in places with some grain initially but this passes quickly & the beer is a fairly easy one to drink with only touches of alcohol coming through.
A fairly decent beer, not quite as sweet as some of the other foreign export stouts but there was some coming through in the taste, particularly towards the end and the alcohol content of the beer was relatively well hidden too.
