Its head was small and white. Aroma had sweetness, roasted malts, berries and alcohol. Palate was full bodied, oily and dry with low carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, roasted malts, burnt malts and bitterness. Afteraste was roasty and bitter. A bit weird and too sweet.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Beer3000 (3727) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - APR 17, 2013
500 ml bottle sampled in 2008. Dark reddish amber body with a creamy beige head. Slightly roasted aroma with coffee and dry fruit. Flavor is roasted malt, coffee, mocha, fruity and balanced bitter. Full body and a nice aftertaste. Pleasant and harmonic stout.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 pivnizub (8000) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - APR 6, 2013
Bottle: Deep ruby-amber coloured, small and stable off-white foamy layer, almost solid roasty-chocolatey nose with a port-vinous touch; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; cacao-powder and dark malt in the slightly drier bitter-sweet and vinous finish. Good, but not completely convincing...
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 EithCubes (4201) - New Jersey, USA - APR 2, 2013
Bottle. Nose of chocolate and roast, the sweetness and strong fruit/berries are late to the party but make a satisfying entrance. Pitch pour with a clingy, dense little tan head. Taste very sweet, fruity with cream/lactose and licorice, plums and raisins a bit fainter, about on par with the fading roast. Chocolate and subtle bitterness from the hops. Alcohol masterfully hidden, smooth on the whole but a touch crisp. Hint of smoke in the too-sweet aftertaste. Tone down the sugar, boys, and you’ve got something here.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 bbbeer (412) - Massachusetts, USA - MAR 13, 2013
Dark brown with red tinge, quite small tan head. Aroma is fruity at first, then some caramel and malt. Medium body. Minimal alcohol. Flavor is rather sweet. Dark fruits, spices. Some roasted malt/chocolate character although that is not too prominent. Faint hops in the background. Not that stout-like and on the sweet side but avoids being too syrupy. Nice mix of complexity and drinkability.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Scipio (490) - Palatine, Illinois, USA - FEB 22, 2013
Pours black with a beige head that not only was thin, but faded quickly as well. Aroma is a bit unusual for this style, being mostly earthy malts, along with toffee, licorice, and a little bit of raisin. Perhaps chocolate as well. As for the taste, I get a good deal of raisin and licorice. Lesser toffee elements. It really is more on the darker fruity side. It really tastes like juice instead of beer. It is more light in body despite the potency of this one. Thin in texture as well, with an aftertaste of raisin, licorice, and now I get some chocolate. Despite the deceiving palate, the alcohol comes out in this one. I don’t think this one is bad. It just isn’t what I’m looking for in a stout.
2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Cantabrian (387) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - FEB 21, 2013
Definitely not my favourite stout. Kind of a barley wine with Nanjing ink. Nose is a stout, no doubt, but the flvour was way too...herbal? Ink AND infusions? Anyway, it’s a thin, watery palate and I was fairly disappointed.
