ClubGonzo (3869) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUN 14, 2014
Bottle. Pours a clear golden body with a small white head. Nose is pale malts, grains, mild boozy notes, maize, hints of bread and straw. Taste is pale malts, alcohol, red berries, mild caramel and hints of bread. Medium body and carbonation. Terrible barley wine, really.

Bottle:Deep golden, small - but stable and lacy - white head; a touch of alcohol in the sweet pale-malty (to honeyish) nose, a bready touch detectable; moderate sweet flavour, some subdued bitterness detectable, medium bodied; sweet pale malt, alcohol and shy hops in the warming finish. Quite an easy-drinking barley-wine…

(bottle, 33cl) Slightly hazy, deep golden colour with a short and slightly tanned foamy head. Slightly molassy malty aroma with notes of dried and candied fruits, also sourish, slightly vinous fruity accents, caramel and fusels. Sweet and delicately bitter flavour, full bodied with a soft carbonation. Caramelly malty taste with lighter fruity and mildly spicy notes, sweet malty and delicately bitter finish with floral, if not perfumed notes retronasal, a touch of booze and caramel, as well as traces of caramel in the aftertaste. Strange and slightly unclean BW, but still a likeable brew. 05.VI.14

mile (2874) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAY 5, 2014
Bottle. Golden, hazy, small and fully diminishing head. Moderate to full, malty - lightly grainy and sugary sweetish aroma, some caramel and light dark fruits, light herbal hoppyness and faint alcohol. Body is medium to full, malty and sugary sweetish flavor, some caramel and light fruitiness, light - some herbal hoppyness, light alcohol. Finish is average, malty - lightly grainy and sweetish, some caramel and light fruitiness, some herbal hoppyness, light - some alcohol. BW with caramel and decent bitterness. Not big fan of the style, but this one is not overly too sweet (with help from 10% and bitterness).

Still orangey amber, ringed lacey head. Messy banana and rubbery roasted sweet nose. Tapered sweetness, oily and odd fruitiness. Rusty caramel, tinny oxidised. Soft enough for a Barely Wine, first few corners taken light a frothy blonde before a burned darning booziness.
